Vyrso books for Logos 4 or biblia
I have a PC and I find these book cheap compare to the normal Logos stuff. I also see the logos 4 logo so can I buy books and read them on my PC, Laptop or through Biblia chrome plugin?
I am a big fan of Thomas Nelson I have a lot of the eBible stuff they made and I see some books I would love to add to my collection on your site.

Vyrso is the new eBook store by Logos. "Vyrso" resources are distinguished from "Logos" ones in that the eBooks have only a little done to alter them from the publisher. They would be similar to eBooks you purchase from other sites. There are several advantages to purchasing books from Vyrso, however:
- Scripture references are hyperlinked
- Vyrso books integrate into your L4 library
- Vyrso books can be read on Biblia.com
- Copy & paste is simpler than many other eBook readers (which often limit what you can copy & paste)
Since Vyrso books do not require the time intensive tagging that regular "Logos" ones do, Logos is able to get the books ready to sell much more quickly than Logos resources. Currently Vyrso is in "beta" (which in this case just means that they are not fully up and running... don't worry about having only "half a book" [:)]) and is hoping to have up to 24,000 books available by the end of the year. Currently there are about 4,000.

Yes. This is a blessing and a curse. For example, I purchased a novel about Robin Hood through Vyrso and it is in my Logos library as well. You can "hide" (remove) the file when you are finished with it (but you must wait until you've finished it!).

Great book. I have a print copy, but I would like to get the Vyrso copy in the future.

Are they going to add page numbers, don't really care about fiction books, but would be nice to have page numbers like my other Logos books!

No problem. The answer is still the same, however. What it boils down to is that Vyrso books are released largely untouched from the publisher. This makes it easier for Logos to get the resource "out the door." It also makes them able to keep the costs down. It's not that Vyrso books are unable to have page numbers, its that the publisher didn't put them in! This is true with most eBooks, Vyrso or otherwise.
A question I have for you: Why do you want page numbers? How will you use them? There are reasons to use them, but if we understand your concern, perhaps we can find a work around.

if a leader is using let say a book from the site with logos and the rest of the study group has the book would be nice to give page #. The page number has never been a issue for me. If it adds more $$ then I say leave it off.

This is a good reason, although having a hard copy might be beneficial. For example, you never know when someone will forget their copy. [:)]

I think some people have difficulties seeing the forest for the trees. Most of the NT books were written as letters. When you get a letter, how much time do you spend reading the first paragraph? I agree - I would have been bored too! [:)]

The main reason is if I quote a book, in a talk or study I write, I like to give reference to where I got it. it's one of those things that got drummed into me at seminary. If I quote a commentary I give a page number, if I quote a non-fiction book from Vyrso I would like to do the same. If page numbers are not possible, on the Mac version of Kindle when I copy & paste from a book it give a full citation with a location number instead a page number.
Currently I am working on some study guides on discipleship, one the books has some good quotes, but not sure how to give reference other than just book and author. I would like to be able to be a bit more precise, is there another way to cite?

I believe that a "Kindle Location" is a proprietary format. If someone were to use another format (i.e. "Nook") I think it would be meaningless. If I am wrong, someone will correct me, I am sure. [:)] If you are willing to use a proprietary format, why not use a logores citation? In a resource, click on the book cover (upper left hand corner). In the drop down menu, select "Copy Location as URL." This will give you a unique identifier for that location in the book. The cool thing about it is that you can use this as a hyperlink to the resource. Unfortunately for (us) Mac users, this feature does not work in Word or Pages. It does work in the forums, however. Here is an example:

If it helps, this is what APA suggests:
No page numbers
APA ordinarily requires page numbers for quotations, and it recommends them for summaries and paraphrases from long sources. When an electronic source lacks stable numbered pages, your citation should include information that will help readers locate the particular passage being cited. If the source has numbered paragraphs, use the paragraph number preceded by the abbreviation “para.”: (Hall, 2008, para. 5). If the source contains headings, cite the appropriate heading in parentheses; you may also indicate the paragraph under the heading that you are referring to, even if the paragraphs are not numbered.
Hoppin and Taveras (2004) pointed out that several other medications
were classified by the Drug Enforcement Administration as having the
“potential for abuse” (Weight-Loss Drugs section, para. 6).

Only thing I don't like about logos 4 is the fact it opens like Firefox :P

Thanks, this might work! Does the inability to use the "Copy Location as URL" affect Personal Books? Do the links just not work in Word, but will work once compiled as a Personal Book? Its a bit of a challenge figuring some things about Personal books out, because most of the videos I've seen demo Personal Books are using Word on PC.

I don't know if you understood me right or not... "Copy Location as URL" DOES work... it just doesn't work as a link in the current version of Word for Mac. (It does work on the windows version). The reason that it doesn't work is that it adds information, which breaks the link. This means that until this is fixed (by MSFT, not Logos), you can't use it in PBB for Mac. Also, I do not have the latest version of Pages, so I can't tell you if it works in that program or not. [I have been wanting to "skip" a version, but the next version is taking FOREVER. I have pages '08 (which came out in August of 2007). The current version ('09) came out in January of 2009. They had been releasing a new version about every 16 months... I really hope a new version is released soon!]

Forum discussion has a screen shot => PBB editing to hyperlink a reference itself
Word 2011 (on Windows) allows hyperlinks to begin with logosres: while Word and Pages on Mac add localhost prefix to hyperlinks so need to use [[label >> link]] syntax. Once Personal Book built, label appears in resource with hyperlink.
Wiki => Personal Books includes:
Word hyperlinks
If Word hyperlinks do not compile then try the syntax [[label >> link]]. However, if the link reference is then detected as a hyperlink (blue and underlined in Word) right-click on the link and choose Remove Hyperlink.
Keep Smiling [:)]
