Bible study methods and tools with index
This group is relatively straight forward - some note taking type skill articles and "alphabet soup" bible study methods (inductive with catchy acronyms) and a few items starting to broaden out the scope of methods. I'm interested in feedback on the organization of the index and, as always, other methods and tools you'd like so see added. This is very much a every-now-and-then project in contrast to the Creeds.

Hi, MJ -
Please pardon my ignorance ...
What is an lbxoeb file and what do I do with it to open it?
I checked all my Libronix DLS folders and no lbxoeb files were in them.
Thanks!

I added them to the resource folder and then opened up Libronix and my library and there they were.

lbxoeb files are personal book builder (PBB) files. If you have the PBB reader key, you can open them as Libronix resources. Just put them in any LDLS resource path. Some like to create a subdirectory for PBB's, others just put everything in one big folder.

It would be nice to have a fixed top item on this forum that:
1) told people what to do with the various files
2) told them about other free resources esp. www.stilltruth.com
3) provided links to the appropriate training material on Logos

Although I don't recall ever purchasing the PBB addon, maybe it just comes with Scholar's Gold, because adding these to Resources did make them readable.
How do I check if I have the other PBB abilities available?

The PBB reader comes with all the Scholars packages, and some others, but I don't know which. The PBB builder is a subscription service. I haven't purchased it yet, so I don't know the current price.

I think this will help anyone with questions regarding PBB's and also is the source for acquiring tons of them. http://www.stilltruth.com/category/technology/libronix-downloads/

This is driving me nuts. I went to still truth website and linked back to Logos to only find out I hvw the pbb key. I did a test by downloading Arthur Pinks "Sermon on the Mount". The book is not in my library under name, topic, etc. I tried downloading to Resources under the libronix dls file. Also I have a libronix resource folder not in the dls section. Nothing seems to work. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help?

I figured it out. Running the executable file, closing and opening Logos made this work.
As George posted on another forum topic, "close and open Logos TWICE."
I can't remember the why but I have read that somewhere... Morris Proctor or Logos training video???
Do it TWICE to ensure the resource is properly installed.

Yes this is often necessary -- particularly when refreshing the LDLS resource cache, or updating LDLS. But it is not always necessary when installing PBB's -- if you put them in an existing directory. I have even found that if I copy them into an existing directory with LDLS running, I can usually access them without restarting at all! I know it shouldn't work, but it usually does.
YMMV, of course.

I'm still having problems with pbbs. I got some to work, but others are not in the library. I have done multiple downloads, writing one over another and I have opened and closed Libronix many, many times to no avail. I don't know why some would load and others just seem to be somewhere??? I am running windows xp, but I recently ditched internet explorer 7 (and 8). I am using the safari browser. Could this be the problem? All of my downloads have been attempted through safari. Also, I right click and choose download file as......choose libronix dls, then resources and save. Where have I missed the boat?

Which ones aren't working - I'll check to see if there is anything different about them from my end. You are certainly correct that something strange is going on.

After several hours of messing with pbbs, I have got them working. It is definitely strange. I decided to go back to internet explorer for my browser. I then went to this link and installed the pbb updater. I can click on a resource there...there was over 800...and I pick some and hit the download button. Open and close libronix......Sometimes I find the resource 1st in authors and sometimes in unlocked resources.

I am not sure, but if you mean by ditched IE7 and 8, that you somehow uninstalled it, it might be a problem, since Logos is using IE for it's engine. It should be changed in the version 4.
For me pbb's are found always just after downloading them to my resources folder (subfolder PBB). As somebody pointed out already, I don't need to restart Logos for seeing them in my library. However, if you have such problems, try to make sure you have those pbb files in your resources folder, than refresh resources in Options | Resource Paths | Refresh Resources and restart Logos twice to keep keylinks etc. If there is no major problem with your installation, you should see all your resources, including pbb's. That is at least how it works for me.

IE 6 or later must be installed on your computer for LDLS to work properly. IE does not have to be your default browser, but it must reside on your system. I personally recommend IE7 (not IE8 - it seems to run slower than IE7 for most people). Install IE and restart your system, then open your favorite browser and ensure that it is still your default browser.
