Suggestion: Vyrso purchase filtering
As much as I like the fact that Vyrso can read any of the books in my Logos collection, it would be really nice to be able to filter our just my Vyrso purchases via a checkbox or something similar. There are sooooo many books with similar titles in my Logos collection, that even with the search tool, it is sometimes very difficult to find a book that I purchased through Vyrso. It would be a welcome addition to have a toggle to filter/show only the books I have purchased through Vyrso when using the Vyrso app.

Mark - I agree that the library could be more useful with better sorting features. I do have a suggestion for you, however. I use the Logos App for my logos usage, but the Vyrso app I use exclusively for Vyrso books. I have typed "eBook" into the library search field, which allows me to view all of and only my Vyrso books.
Similarly, in Logos 4 you can create an eBook collection which will always show you your Vyrso books. Once you create the rule, it automatically updates for you with every new purchase.

Thank you, Alabama. I didn't know you could do that! Can I type monograph in my vyrso library search, as I read lots of my logos books, e.g. spurgeon, muller, ramsay, in vyrso

If they are tagged as a monograph it should work. I typed "monograph" in the library search field on my iPad and got several hundred results. Library search filtering should help in making our large libraries manageable on mobile devices.

Technically my way is a bit lazy. It would probably be preferable to search "edition:eBook." If you wanted to search for monographs, you could try "monograph" or "type:monograph." I don't have my iPad with me right now (my son is playing Angry Birds [:)]) or I would check for you.

yes, eBook worked brilliantly for vyrso resources. Monograph also worked till I got bogged down in Perseus! Can I searching monograph but not Perseus somehow? Anyway I've now got all my vyrso books downloaded and more than enough logos books to keep me supplied in reading matter till I go online again. Thank you so much for the tip!

I think, if you just input '-perseus' into the library search box should work (I'm not sitting at my L4-PC right now, so try yourself). I think there must be many a thread where this has been discussed.

In Vyrso I don't believe "-perseus" works on its own.
"monograph -perseus" does work

Actually, "-perseus" in Vyrso filters Library to show all 1,743 Perseus resources, same as "perseus" so the leading "-" is effectively ignored.
In contrast, "edition:logos -perseus" shows Logos library without Perseus and Vyrso while "edition:e" only shows Vyrso purchases. Since edition currently has 3 values, then "e" is adequate to match eBook (Vyrso).

Thanks, Smiler! That's helpful. Tho eBook etc only works as a search criterion when online. But it did enable me to download all my vyrso books, and lots of monographs when online today. Will try your further search criteria next time I'm online

Those search criteria will work offline on your downloaded books, so if you ever end up adding a lot of books it will help.

not on my vyrso or logos app, alas! I've just checked it out again.
But I'm not complaining. I can call up the books I want now Alabama's helped me get my keyboard back!

Thanks - I see in L4 now that you have to have a 'positive' match to reduce something from it, and that the order of search arguments is irrelevant in this case. Thus, "-perseus monograph" is equivalent to your suggestion and both will find non-Perseus monographs.
"* -perseus" or "-perseus *" will give all resources without the Perseus ones.
Interestingly, the wiki page http://wiki.logos.com/Library__ seems to miss information on library search parameters.

Thanks - I didn't realise that you could reverse these.

Library search parameters are at http://wiki.logos.com/Library__#Search_Fields_that_you_can_use_in_the_Find_box. Were you looking for something else / additional?

Graham,
the table there misses the "edition" field (which is contained in the screenshot far above) and - as the section header rightly tells - it is concerned mostly with fields, less with parameters. I'd expect additional information - e.g. that "*" works as a wildcard (I found this by chance yesterday) and prefixed "-" works as exclusion (someone wrote this in the forum someday), that you may use parentheses, AND, OR and ANDNOT - thus "(Lightfoot OR Schaff) AND fathers" is a valid search expression.
Maybe this warrants a new section "Searching the library" (or did I overlook something?). After all, I find I'm often using the library search without fields, see above, as I tend to forget whether the info I'm searching for is contained in the title, the subject or has been added by myself in a tag - like "Didache", "Hermas" etc. in the Lightfoot Apostolic Fathers, where neither Author nor Subject nor even the info text contains the information I'm likely to search for.

Thanks Mick - that is helpful.

That is understandable as this field is a relatively new addition.
Are you up for editing the wiki article???

I'd like to, but this may take its time (after all, my workday just started). Maybe I can do something tonight, my timezone, but maybe it will take until the weekend - if you want, just go ahead, otherwise I'll take a look at it later.

If have questions about wiki editing, please ask.
Thanks to Steve Clark for creating wiki templates => wiki Template1 and => wiki Template2 that have many wiki formatting examples.
Looking forward to additional information being added. Personally added edition: to table and noticed Edition column appeared earlier on page with possible values.

thanks for wiki page. Helpful. Still doesn't work for me offline on iPad for vyrso or logos app.

Concur library filtering by column does not work offline on iPad.
Appears iOS offline library search looks in author and title while ignoring description.

"edition:e" only shows Vyrso purchases.
In Vyrso, if type type "ebook", I only get one book, but in Logos 4, I get 5 books. But if I type a keyword from the title, I can get any particular book I bought through the Vyrso site. So I really have to know I own the book, or the book is lost to me.

When online, searching Vryso library for "edition:e" and "ebook" finds same number of resources as Logos 4.5 Beta 10 for my Vyrso resources.
When offline, searching Vryso library for "ebook" finds one resource that has Ebook in the title while a search for "edition:e" finds nothing.
Apologies: personally living and learning that Logos mobile apps cannot filter library by metadata when offline.

I put a new section into the existing page: http://wiki.logos.com/Library__#Using_Search_operators_to_find_your_resources - i felt this was more appropriate than building a new page. I found how to format and include nicely-sized pictures by looking at what was there already. One thing I didn't see is how to make a search string bold that contains the * character - these are plain text right now.
Feel free to update the content and formatting. If something is unclear, or more/better examples are needed, come back to me, so we might keep the examples looking similar and not contradictiong each other regarding search results.

Noticed section name modification change flows better in page contents => http://wiki.logos.com/Library__#Using_Search_Operators_in_the_Find_box
Using escape character ~ allows * character to be bold: *~** on wiki page means:
- * Bold begin
- ~ Escape to skip wiki formatting for next character
- * Asterisk character
- * Bold end
Wiki templates => wiki Template1 and => wiki Template2 now have * and / escape examples.

Thanks a lot, also for updating the page! I'll try later to get the Eri*on-Example bold as well - maybe I'll have a go at the picture-inclusion as well. Anything missing or unclear content-wise?
EDIT: I updated the wiki, it now also contains the string search.
And: Happy New Year! Rejoice in the Lord!
