Limiting books available on iPod/iPhone
How in the world do I limit the books viewable on my iPod? I received the FREE Perseus Collection which has MANY, MANY books in it that I will NEVER use. It also contains some that I do want and will use. The problem is: Since I downloaded this collection to my laptop and added it into my overall collection, now they all appear on my iPod. How can I eliminate off the iPod what I don't want...and KEEP it off?

You can hide them on the desktop app, and then some day that will sync to your mobile device and they'll disappear from your visible library.
You can also ask to "return" (re-lock) the Perseus Collection if you have no intention of using it.

Thanks for responding. I want some of the books, but have no reason to clutter up my iPod with all of the Latin, Greek, Hebrew, German books. Please explain clearly how I HIDE them on the Desktop. After doing so, are you saying that when I sync my iPod to my Laptop it will change to match what is VISIBLE on the Laptop. Will this be reversed if I update directly with the Logos app on the iPod?

You need to open up Program Settings, then the Hidden Resources section. Simultaneously open up your Library, then drag and drop the resources you want to hide.

The sync issue is a little bit of an unknown--it doesn't have to do with you syncing your ipod to your computer, but the way Logos syncs to the cloud. Your desktop app will sync the hidden preference when you finish, but there's no way to force your iPod to sync to the cloud, and no way to tell exactly when that will happen either. When I did this, it seemed to have taken my Android app about a day to remove the hidden resources from the library. Perhaps an uninstall and reinstall on iOS would force the issue, but I don't know for sure.

John - One area of needed improvement for the mobile app is in filtering. You can manually filter by using search's such as "edition:eBook". This will show you only your Vyrso books. I believe you could also use "language:en" to filter out the books which have been tagged in another language.

I don't own an iPhone, nor do I pay for a data plan (I have wifi at home/work/church and just can't justify the cost). I do however own an iPod Touch and an iPad. What I've done is just download what I want to my iPod/iPad and then turn off my wifi when I don't want to see my whole library. I mainly use the Logos app as a reader so it works for me. This may not be what you're looking for but I thought I would throw in my two cents.

Is the Perseus collection a VERSO book? I don't have Verso on my iPod. I simply have the Logos App. I want to make sure I am not messing it up, so would you please explain clearly how to filter out only the books I want NOT to appear on the iPod...but do NOT want to eliminate from my laptop. I would like to be able to do this also with other books that came as part of the Scholar Gold but which I don't know if I will ever honestly use. I do not want to filter by language, because this would remove all of my other Hebrew/Greek/Latin/Spanish books. Right? You seem to have a lot of Posts...hopefully, this also means you have a lot of experience with this. Thank you!

L.D. - It is a great suggestion for an iPad (when 3G/wifi is off) or iPod touch. Unfortunately it would not work really well with an iPhone, since the purpose of an iPhone is to have a steady internet connection with you at all times.

Is the Perseus collection a VERSO book?
No, the Perseus collections are Logos resources, not Vyrso. However, the distinction really applies to the resources not the applications. By this I mean that all Logos resources which you can read on the iPad Logos app you can also read in the Vyrso app and vice versa.
In general, Logos resources have richer tagging and are designed to enable study while Vyrso resources are simpler electronic books designed for more straightforward reading.

The way the mobile applications (Logos and Vyrso) work is by accessing your registered resources on Logos servers (you then have the ability to download them to your device if you wish for offline access)
This means that any books which are visible on your laptop (and are enabled for mobile use - some are not due to licensing issues) are also visible on your mobile device (using either the Logos or Vyrso app).
A number of people have requested ways of filtering these resources so that a smaller subset is made available to mobile devices but - outside of some very basic library filtering - this is not currently possible. So, for example, in the search box in the library screen you can put "* -perseus" and it shows you all of your resources except for Perseus ones. Some of built similar filtering strings to achieve different filter results but this is the limit of capability at the moment.
I know this isn't the answer you are looking for but this is the current situation.

Don't forget the Recent option in the iOS app libray. That is the quickest way to find the resources that you use regularly.

You should NOT hide any resources that you want use of. "Hiding" is a misnomer... you actually delete them from your system.
I was not aware of that. I checked and sure enough, the hidden files are gone from my system.
I think this is a nice benefit. It should make searches faster for resources you intend to use since the index is smaller. John had mentioned that he will never use those resources, so "hiding" (or deleting, whatever it is) sounds like the right approach for him.
And, I think it's worth pointing out that even though the files are deleted, you still own the license. You are free to "unhide" and thus re-download anything you've purchased.

you can restore them if you want to.
However, John was also requesting the ability to have files on his desktop / laptop that are not made available on his mobile device

This is a more difficult problem and I outlined some (limited) approaches to this above.

These only 'clutter up' your actual iPod if you download them to use off air - unless downloaded they remain on Logos servers and are only called as required and then only the section you actually want at that time.
This applies also to the library list - even it does not 'clutter up' your iPod if you are not online - turn off the connection and you are only presented with those books that you have downloaded.
When online, the only part of the book that is on your iPod will be the bit that is needed to let you know that the book is available to you should you want it and this is only when viewing the library through the library tab.
When using the library tab I have found it helpful not to scroll the library - far too many books even without the Perseus lot - but to make extensive use of the 'type:x' convention details of which can be found in the Wiki.
