Background Color

I use either a gray or tan background to ease eyestrain when doing prolonged reading. L3 picked up the Windows setting so I was wondering if L4 could be customized. Thank you.

Funny, we discussed some of the features we liked about Pradis in the Forums right after it was announced Zondervan was retiring Pradis to make Libronix offerings (http://community.logos.com/forums/p/1705/13726.aspx#13726).  Three things we mentioned LOGOS would benefit from was 1) a pane system, 2) a tab system, and 3) tasteful color options.  Two outta three ain't bad, and I concur, grey and tan (and even light shades of green-grey, blue-grey, etc.) have proven helpful to me.  Maybe LOGOS 4.1 will incorporate background color changes, but I don't see anything on it right now.

Not to mention the fact as we age (55 at present) oue eyes do fail- and it would be very help to us who do spend hours studying using L4, to be able to save our sight a little[:O]

I would also like to put in my vote for this feature. I have "toned down" the plain white background for years, and it has proved much easier to read for these old eyes!!

I would like to have the active window border a bit more obvious. A one pixel increase in width just does not stand out for me. Why is there no color change of the title bar as in other Windows programs? I find myself clicking in a window just to make sure it is active.

I also want to make the colors of the scroll bar more obvious. They are so pale, I usually cannot see the grabber bar. Control of the color scheme would really help.

If you really want to appeal to the younger crowd you have to be able to choose 'skins' (if that's the current term).

As for me and my house, standard is just fine.

I'll extend the answer some - I would like to be able set different backgrounds for each pane and tab.  I might not choose to have different colors for each option, but I would like the opportunity to set colors that help me to study.  Colors might improve the ability to see the text - but it would also make LOGOS easier (at least for me) to use and track.

Yeah, ditto on that.  Been wanting that for a few years. 

To respond to Bob P's question: local is needed.

To me it makes a big difference the way the interface looks and I would definitely suggest a locally customizable interface for not just background but also text color etc.  Also it would be helpful when I change the default font what it would look like before changing it.  In other words have each font that is listed appearing as it should when you change it.  Tahoma in the list will look like tahoma,  times new roman will look like times new roman etc.

I like Floyd's suggestion of customizing individual tabs. I think this would increase Logos' functionality to enable users to customize their own color schemes: one color for commentaries, another for Bible text, a third for dictionaries, etc. That type of coloring might take a while so I vote Windows background color as a short-term solution with local customization as a better long-term option.

I personally don't have any issue with it, but it seems like it would fit well under right under the text size selector. Local control would be most obvious and probably best.

I absolutely agree! The border should be more obvious or the Title Bar should use the Windows systems color for active windows.

Floyd you have my support on this. I could colour commentaries, blue, Bibles purple, dictionaries green background. I think you get the picture.

I was perfectly fine in defining this through Windows, but should you decide to give us direct control through Logos that's okay by me!

I'd love to be able to throw Papyrus behind my Hebrew, and/or set my Hebrew font for Qumran texts to an archaic Hebrew font

It would also be helpful to change the colour of the general text.

I believe this would be an excellent option.  Would help me keep track of what is where (esp. If I could assign colors to specific "types" of resources I have)

I think local control would be most useful to me.  I would ask for more color control over more of the UI too.  The pastel on pastel trend is not helping the aging-eye crowd that I'm in.

Of course, my view could be biased.  I spend my days working with green or white text on black background consoles.

To add my 1 cents worth--I've been asking for this change from the outset of 4--local would be great, but anything would help. Some better contrast would be a great asset! My poor eyes are begging.

Pane specific appearance formatting overall (i.e. background color, with more choices, font size, and not simply percentages but size, when I enlarge the font size right now it also enlarges the tool bar out of the boundaries and I cant see it.) In general more control of appearance overall would be much appreciated by these 52 yr old eyes. Thanks, love the program!

I would also appreciate the pane specific colors...it would help keep track of what I am studying.  Liked the idea, also, of the active pane being indicated somehow...glow, bright, something.

Glad this has been brought back to life.  Ditto on the above.  I would love to see the ability to choose any color we want from the windows color pallette and the ability to also change the font color the same way and to be able to change the colors in individual panes.  A skinnable interface would also be a bonus!

Harry, you are absolutely right! At 1920 x 1050 pixels in my screen, 1 pixel is like, ah... 0,05% width change, near to impossible to detect.

Keeping it alive...Customizable colors would be a big +!

I was looking at the Kindle PC reader which had a gray background - I would really appreciate this added to Logos.  Anyone heard anything about this?

I am a sofware engineer - and in MS VS.NET (programming tool) I use black background (see attached).

Logos 4 Windows has program settings option to use Windows default, which can be specified in Personalization control panel for Windows so can show yellow text on black background in Logos 4 (along with using visual filters):
