Uploading song files from Powerpoint

Hello. How do I import all my songs (all in PowerPoint) into Proclaim. When I tried to find them the program only seemed to be able to locate text files, and all of my songs are in PowerPoint only. Thanks

Proclaim does not currently support importing from PowerPoint. Support for this feature is coming in a future release.

all our files are on powerpoint. Is there any time frame on when this new release is coming, ie a month or 1 year or 5 years. I have already paid for proclaim and the clock is ticking.

Month or two.

Will this be a real import of PowerPoint files or will Proclaim depend on PowerPoint to view this files/slides?

1. All our files have songs have been saved to Powerpoint and whenever a song is needed we just grab the Powerpoint file and it has all the slides loaded on that song in correct format and font and font size
We don't have text copies of all the songs
We would like to upload all the songs into Proclaim and use proclaim to display
2. The other question we had is each one of our Worship leaders had various renditions of the songs, Some like to play an extra chorus or repeat chorus etc...
Is there any way of saving a copy to fit the perosn playing
ie Awesome God ---- This is Original
ie Awesome God - Deb ---- This is way Debbie may do that song ie extra chorus at end
ie Awesome God - Don ---- This is Don's version repeats chorus at the end twice

Dear Craig,
1. Scott addresses the issue of PowerPoint integration above (it is coming in a month or two). The only workaround I can think of for now, would be to copy and paste from PowerPoint into Proclaim. This would be laborious.
As an alternative, if you already have a CCLI account, it may be worth investigating whether your church wishes to invest in SongSelect. It cost our church at little over £10 ($15ish) for this year to increase our subscription to include SongSelect. On subscribing, you can then link your SongSelect account to Proclaim (via Account in the top right of the screen) and Proclaim will pull songs directly from the CCLI database.
I appreciate this may not be an option depending upon the position of your church and the nature of the songs you typically use.
2. On this thread, Scott confirms as follows,
Scott Alexander said:My Songs are uniquely identified by title...
I understand this to mean that Proclaim saves a version of the song for each unique title. In other words, your plan should work.

You can export your song slides from Powerpoint and then import them to Proclaim as an Image Slideshow.

Yes, simply input the first version of your lyrics into a song item. Then, duplicate that item (right-click > duplicate) and change the title to one of your variations, eg, "Awesome God - Deb" and then change the lyrics.

Hi Hunter - quick question. If I am displaying the title of the song on the slides, is there a way to have a file titled "Awesome God - Deb" but have it display just "Awesome God" on the slide? Having "Awesome God - Deb" up for the Congregation to see would be distracting (i.e. "Wait, Deb isn't an Awesome God, what's that for?"). I hope that makes sense. Thanks.

Hi Chris,
Apologies if this is obvious (I note from your previous posts that you are proficient with Proclaim), but I presume you are aware that you can uncheck the tick box and not have the title slide display at all?
Alternatively, you could change the font colour of either the entire title or just 'Deb' to that of the background (rendering the offending word invisible). Obviously, this may or may not be possible depending upon the complexity of your background.
We used this as a workaround before we discovered that it is possible to insert blank slides (we did not want the title to display, but we did want a blank slide at the front of each song).
Apologies again if this is really obvious stuff, but I hoped it might be helpful.
God bless,
Andy

Probably the easiest way to get around this would be to add a Custom caption to the slide, and enter "Awesome God" that way, then adjust the opacity of the official title field so that it cannot be seen.

Thanks for the responses. It is too bad there isn't a better way to separate different flavors of a song on the backend while preserving the song title for display. The custom caption is probably the best option right now (choosing a font color only works if the background is a single color - it would still show over video, gradients, images, etc.).
I suggest having separate "Filename" and "Title" fields in Proclaim.
uservoice entry here.

I cannot give you an eta, but we are now working on our next rounds of feature enhancements, including support for Powerpoint. We appreciate your patience.

The first version of PowerPoint integration will be coming soon. This will be a first step in the process that I think you'll be quite happy with.
The real good news though is that in order to implement PowerPoint integration we've added a number of significant improvements to the Proclaim infrastructure and some improvements to features that will greatly enhance usability.
Thanks,
