I have never heard of this book before just coming across it recently on Archive.org.  But I recognized the names of many authors and thought it was worth a try.  The book is a collection of six essays - each by a leading figure for various bodies in US Lutheranism at the time, where they get to present their case.  Of course there is some obvious disagreement between various views.  Of course the essays are of various quality.  But too often we hear what "they" think by hearing what "we" say about them, and here they all get to speak for themselves.  Probably the biggest weakness of this collection is that that they all come from German-Americans.  The Scandinavians get to talk themselves in a later edition of this work, but I started with this one because it is so close in time to some other works I have from the Predestination Controversy.  This way Loy and Pieper get to speak for their own bodies as an introduction, and you also get a few good comments about it from Jacobs...

Of course, they speak about many other things than Predestination...

    Thanks for the words of support.  To be honest, I don't really expect people to read them all, but since I am out of work and need something to do, I'm just throwing stuff out there that I find interesting or important.

    Lots of funerals?  I better get cooking on those funeral sermon collections I found...

                 Ken, you've been on my prayer list already; and I will keep you there.          I noticed the other thread re. jobs.  Our Pastor prays regularly for the unemployed and the underemployed.                             Personally, I don't know what it's like; but having ministered to people for over 50 years now, I see how devastating it can be in the lives of people.                            However, using my Logos Bible Software very numerous prayer lists, I'll keep you (and the other thread's needs) quite active for now.
