PBB - Are my books available to others?

This may well be answered somewhere, and if so, I apologize for cluttering the forum. However, my question is simply this:

If I create a Personal Book in my Logos 4, is it uploaded (or stored) on the Logos servers? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how my package relates to the Logos servers. Is my particular configuration stored online, or just in my own computer? And how do my Personal Books figure in all of this?

Right now PBs are not uploaded. Logos is working on a plan where PBs can/will be uploaded to a 'store' and can then be downloaded by others. The only way to share PBs now is by sharing the source file so someone can compile it themselves.

That could be an issue and you would not be alone in being concerned. The way Logos intends to implement this sharing hasn't been too clear, yet. We don't know if they will give us an option to keep our PBs off the web site or not. Certainly some of us will want that. We have to wait to hear more.

Hi David

While - as Mark says - PBs are not currently uploaded, the intention is that they will be.

This will allow them to be synchronised between different computers you own on which you use Logos.

I know some users have concerns over this and I don't know whether there will be any options to disable this feature

Even if they eventually are backed up on the Cloud, you will still have to give permission for others to access them.

I think more of us are looking forward to this than are dreading it.

In fact, I've stopped multiple compilings (one at the office, one at home) because these seem to interfere with each other when done this way. I'm keeping, and building, my file of docx PBB documents, but waiting until I can put them on the cloud and access them from both places.

Logos 4 currently only syncs the "metadata" for a personal book (the title, author, description, etc. that are shown in the Personal Books panel).

I agree! Can you imagine someone who has used the PB feature to create a personal journal and without their permission this personal information is just blurted out there for everyone to see! This would be a terrible invasion of privacy. I think a better option would be to make this optional.

I'd say anyone who creates a personal journal in a program not designed to do so and then puts it in the cloud has bigger problems than Logos' security.

You've got a point. But it would be nice to use PB for this purpose if there was a way to keep it for your eyes only.
