L4 SR Updates - Repetative Message

I'm able to download SR Updates, but they just don't install.

Logos is aware of the problem, but seem to be ignoring it as they don't respond to e-mails either.

Because of this I'm obliged to do a "safe Re-install" every time there is a SR update.

I've just done the 4-5 SR3 update + two "downloads" of this same update to try and clear the message I keep getting that I've got a 47.5 MB update available to download.

I've deleted the Download Manager files, the Update Manager Files, and the Downloaded file, but the message still reappears saying that I have the 4-5 SR3 update waiting to be downloaded. The info given at the Help info page confirms that I am running 4-5 SR3.

How do I clear the download tubes and get rid of this message?

Are you sure it's not saying you have the SR-4 update waiting?

Well, I only did the update a couple of hours ago, but the way things are going it could well be the SR4!

It hadn't been announced when I last checked, but it might have come through since then.

I guess I'll have to try another "Safe Re-install" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SR-4 was announced way more than "a couple of hours ago": http://community.logos.com/forums/p/44866/334193.aspx#334193. (And those of us who spend much time on the forums knew about it even earlier.)

According to logs you posted in this thread (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/43650.aspx) you're not able to download them (because the MD5 checksum is wrong). Has this changed?

We literally cannot fix this. We are putting the file on Amazon S3 (a very reliable CDN) and are relying on your OS and ISP to transfer it correctly across the Internet.

If the file is not byte-for-byte identical to the server's copy after being downloaded, trying to run the installer will either fail or will install a corrupt version of Logos 4 (which is why we don't run the installer if the download fails).

I'm not sure what this means, but if it works around the issue then you will probably have to keep doing it until the internet connection problem between S3 and your computer is somehow resolved.

As fgh posted, it's most likely indicating the availability of SR-4. The app shouldn't be trying to download SR-3 if that's the running version.

We are putting the file on Amazon S3 (a very reliable CDN) and are relying on your OS and ISP to transfer it correctly across the Internet.

We're investigating the feasibility of temporarily hosting on a different server, to see if this is somehow related to S3. I'll post any updates here.

Thanks for explaining the issue and the activity that was taking place behind the scenes, which had incorrectly seemed to me like unconcerned silence.

Regarding the repetitive message, I had clicked on the link provided by Tonya Ross and presumed that was the latest SR.

Actually, it was the SR4 that was trying to download, but installation also failed as in the past (I've already e-mailed the logs to Tommy)

The MD5 checksum seems to still be the problem.

We're planning to launch a new download server today; if you're still running SR-3, it would be a perfect test if you can hold off on installing SR-4, wait until the new server is live, then see if downloads succeed from our new server.

I'm not an IT fundi at all, but I'm always game for any program that will enable me to work better, or faster, or smarter. I regularly download, install and update scores of programs and I've never hit this problem before.

The only place I've had an occasional problem was with Logos3 resource updates, where a particular resource on the list of updates just won't download via the conventional Logos procedure. I've then gone to the L3 resource archive and downloaded it direct from there without any hassles.

As I've mentioned before, Logos resources download and install without a hitch in L4, it is only SR updates that don't make it, so I'm hoping the problem is with the Amazon S3 as my OS and ISP haven't let me down before.

The new download server is live. (You can tell if you're using it if your download comes from downloads2.logos.com.)

However, it probably won't fix the problem. Already (in the first 20 minutes), three download errors have been logged, and two of them were corrupted in exactly the same way as the downloads served from Amazon S3. (In the same time, hundreds of successful downloads have happened.)

So all we know is that the corruption is consistent (people who get the wrong file get the same wrong file), and it seems to be happening outside our networks.
