Is there a way to advance the slides with a remote from the podium? If so, how would I set that up and use it?
Hi Ps4,
There is a Proclaim remote app available on iOS and, I think, Android. On iOS, the app can be downloaded from the app store and is available for iPad or iPhone/iPod.
You will need to sign into the app with the appropriate username and password. You will need access to, ideally, a WiFi network or 3G. The presentation will need to be 'On Air' on the desktop programme. You should then be able to 'take control of the presentation'.
We have been using the remote app since November (to control the sermon presentation from the pulpit). Although the performance is not flawless (we are occasionally booted and then need to take control), our experience is positive and improving. The promise of the remote app is, in my view, immense.
Please let us know if, having downloaded the app, you require further assistance.
Andy
If you can't find the apps in the respective Market places, links to them are at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/43011.aspx

Hi guys,
Is this app the same as the cell phone/tablet apps? Is there also a way to use something like the Honeywell Power Presenter or a similar product that can be programmed to advance using the space bar, up/down, fkeys, etc.? If not, does that mean that the only way to control the program remotely is with a bulky iproduct (which we don't use)? Would that also mean every speaker would have to be holding their cell phone or tablet as they preach or share? Also, if it's a common app can anyone in the congregation use that app to 'hijack' the presentation or can only one person at a time log into the presentation for control, or is there a lockout feature?

Members of the congregation can follow along with the presentation via the Logos app. There is also a separate Proclaim app specifically designed app for controlling the presentation. This is available via the iOS App store (for Apple products) or via the links provided by Graham (for Android).

There is no way of doing this via a remote controller. I suppose it would be possible to use a laptop running Proclaim from the front of house. I am not sure this would be more elegant than an iPad, iPhone, Android tablet or phone, but it is an option.

I understand that Android is supported. We use iOS and so I cannot comment on the state of the app in comparison with the iOS app.

We have been preaching from an iPad since switching to Proclaim in November. Initially, it felt a little ostentatious (at least to me), but, in all honesty, I am not sure the congregation even realises that I am controlling the presentation, much less that I am using an iPad to do so. I have a discrete black cover on my iPad and keep it behind the pulpit. The conspicuousness of the usage will, of course, depend upon your preaching/speaking style and the set up of your church.
Also, if it's a common app can anyone in the congregation use that app to 'hijack' the presentation or can only one person at a time log into the presentation for control, or is there a lockout feature?
The presentation can only be controlled via username/passwords which are designated as part of your Proclaim group. In other words, a member of the congregation would not be able to take control unless you had either added them to your group of been less than careful with your log in details [:D].
Thanks Andy for th quick response. This is very helpful. [:)]
Hi Andy,
I couldn't quite understand why a remote controller wouldn't work knowing how they work. So, I got hold of my trusty Honeywell Power Presenter which works just fabulously with Powerpoint, Media Shout, and Pro Presenter, and I hooked it up to our computer running a dummy presentation in Proclaim and low and behold it WORKS! Woohoo! I also gave it a test running 'live with watermarks' and it still works. So, you can now let everyone know that if they have a working remote for powerpoint then it should also work in Proclaim. Of course I'm not LIVE but nevertheless it should still continue to work. This is a huge plus!! [:D] Now, if we could only get Proclaim to emulate or run pptx files... [;)] Thanks again for all of your help.
Actually, yes, that should work with Proclaim just fine. We have not tested that particular remote, but if it can be programmed to emulate button presses then it should work fine.
Thanks,
Hi Hunter,
I agree and it's great news. The Honeywell Power Presenter is the recommeded controller of Media Complete so anyone who is running Media Shout would be able to also use this remote with Proclaim. Of course I should qualify this by saying, on a PC this all works great. I haven't tested it on a Mac. But this is a great controller with terrific range. It also has a convenient built in laser pointer. Most important is nice and small and can be hidden in the palm of your hand.
behold it WORKS! Woohoo!
Apologies for giving you duff information on this point... I am really glad it works, however!
God bless,
I use the Honeywell Power Presenter and it works great!!!!
This weekend I used the Power Presenter to advance the slides and i used my iPhone with the proclaim app running to see what was on the screen (it kept me from having to turn around and look behind me to see what was on the screen)
This works really well for me and saved me from having to add another monitor or looking for another avenue to see whats being projected.
BTW, I'm using it on my Macbook Pro!
I have used the Kensington Wireless Presenter remote with Proclaim with no problems. Not as good a range as my iPod app, though. (And not nearly as cool, either!)
I have a Mobile Edge Presenter Plus remote and when I try to use it with proclaim it will advance to separate item but not through the songs. It just jumps from the first slide of the song to the next item without going through the song slides. Am I missing something? kind of deal breaker for me, as we have no wireless at the church so iPhone and iPad are not an option to control the presentation remotely.
I had a similar problem. It sounds like your remote is set to advance slides using the 'page up' and 'page down' keys. Check the documentation that came with the remote to see how to reprogram your remote to use the 'space bar', 'Shift Space bar'. That may resolve your problem.

I have requested a Mobile Edge Presenter remote for our testing. We'll see if we can get it working in Proclaim w/o any additional configuration to the remote.

I've finally gotten around to this. The next version of Proclaim will advance slides using a Mobile Edge Presenter without changing the default settings.
