what is Vyrso?
I love all this classy techno stuff but I think someone some where would/should/could provide a simple definition, usage and system requirement for the products they are trying to sell.
I have read about VYRSO on home page of Logos and I have gone to various blogs and I even went to the its home page but nothing I can find really defines what VYRSO is or what if can do for me.
Is it a application to read Logos books on a smart phones and tablets?
I know you can order books but will they work on logos or just on a smart phone or tablet?
If it is a logos product why not sell it as a logos product and make the connection for people like me that can't seem to find any connection.
If it VYRSO books work on logos why do I have to order them from a different place than I would a logos book?
I simply don't understand what VYRSO is and what if could do for me.

Fundamentally Vyrso is two things:
- a set of resources made available in a "simple" ePub format without all the tagging and extra data associated with standard Logos books. The books are generally for lighter reading (including a lot of Christian fiction) than Logos books
- readers for Android and iOS which provide a slightly simpler interface than the main Logos app on those platforms (it is essentially a cutdown version)
To your specific questions:
Is it a application to read Logos books on a smart phones and tablets?
Vyrso includes an application (an eReader) which provides the ability to read standard Logos books and Vyrso books on tablets and smartphones
I know you can order books but will they work on logos or just on a smart phone or tablet?
Any Vyrso books you purchase will be visible within your Logos library and readable using Logos on PC or Mac (they will also be available in Biblia)

I think (and Logos would really need to comment on the reasons for this) is that they can probably address a different market in this way.

This is related to the question above. One other thing is that the profit margins on Vyrso books are probably much slimmer than on Logos books and so there are some differences as a consequence of this. For example, and Logos credit you generate (such as over the last Christmas sales) can't be used against Vyrso purchases.
Please note that my comments on the last two questions are just my views both on what I have seen and observed - not an official Logos position.

Thanks for your reply. I must be as thick as a brick but I read http://vyrso.com/about and I never got information you provided. It mentioned my Logos library but it never really said anything about whether I could read these books from Logos or not. If you read the "about" it really doesn't say anything other than a bunch of what I consider "ad hype fluff"
Frankly I think who ever did the "about" did a lousy job, but thanks to you I now have a good idea of what it is about.

To add to the excellent answer by Graham [:)] ...
Vyrso resources are distinguished from Logos ones in several ways:
- Generally, Logos resources are academic whereas Vyrso resources are popular (trade) books. [That is not to denigrate any Vyrso resource]
- Logos resources are "value added." Vyrso books are plane jane ebooks (with the addition of scripture hyperlinking).
- Vyrso resources have a different licensing agreement with the publishers. (Consequently, all are mobile enabled).
I agree with Graham that part of the reason that Logos has separated the two is to help create a new market. Vyrso books appeal to a larger audience. Logos is more intimidating.
