Adrian Plass
Get some Adrian Plass books for Vyrso. I've been hearing about them from friends for years and they sound hilarious. Start with The Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass, Aged 37 3/4. And then add some others. We could use some of his "unique perspective on life and faith" to give us a few chuckles. Here's a little taste:
Thanks!

I heard Adrian Plass speak in Cardiff a few years back - and it's fair to say he had everyone in stitches of laughter! Highly recommended if you want to read from a Christian who doesn't take himself too seriously.

Don't know about the States, but Plass is hugely popular in Germany (or has been for a while). I like "An Alien at St Wilfred's" best - there is much down-to-earth wisdom in it, spiritual insights and reflection on the church as well. And the "discussion" of the forty-something pastor with God speaks a lot to me...
Check out reviews at Amazon.co.uk rather than .com if you want to learn more about the book.
EDIT: I might as well give the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alien-at-St-Wilfreds/dp/0006276199/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

He's not that well known in the US, but seems to be pretty well known in Canada and New Zealand, as well as the British Isles. I had some Christian friends gathered for dinner tonight -- two Kiwis, an Irish woman (is there no noun for an Irish person without mentioning their gender like there is for just about every other nationality?), and a Canadian. One of the New Zealanders was recounting from memory story after story from Adrian Plass and had us all literally spurting water from our nostrils and crying we were laughing so hard. I haven't had such a fun evening in ages!

They are hilarious. Alas, I daren't lend any to my friend who's just had his appendix out as he'd be in agony from laughing! I think I've read them all, but I'd love others to have the benefit of them..
