Can I come over to visit? [:)]

I've got "No Money, No Money, No Money!" Other than that, I'd be getting one too. [Insert Drool]. [:'(]

I ordered mine and one for the wife as well. I waited six weeks for the first on I can wait nine days for this one.

I ordered one too.  The Apple online store in the UK was hammered by the volume of traffic, and they also stopped taking phone calls for the same reason.  They finally started accepting orders at midnight!

It is an expensive habit trying to keep up with the "latest and greatest" products from Apple - but selling my first generation iPad on eBay a few weeks ago helped to soften the blow!

Anyone selling their old ipad 2?

Kenneth, check out the new price of refurbished iPad 2s from Apple.  They're just dropped the price after last night's announcement.  I bought my iPad (first generation) as a refurbished model from Apple and was delighted with it.  It really was like brand new (right down to the clingy cellophane wrap which covers sparkly new Apple products!), and came with the same warranty as a brand new model.

If I could buy the new iPad as a refurbished model, I would. [:D]

By summer, if you persistently check, you will be able to.

Yes I've ordered.  I've been holding off for the better display which should make it better to read.

I had to wait until this morning though as I couldn't get on the Uk store.

I can't wait to load up logos on it!

For right now, I am going to hold off on buying the IPas 3.  IPad 1 does all I need it to do right now.

I'll get one before too long - once they're in stock at Target (where I can get a bit of a discount). My wife's itching for my iPad 2. This is the best way to oblige her. ;)

As a soon-to-be iPad 3 owner, what are your thoughts re:

    16 vs. 32 vs. 64GB

WiFi + 4G or WiFi only?

On the other hand, I may just get the iPad 3 for my wife and I'll get a new Ivy Bridge Notebook computer in a couple months when they IB processors start showing up, which would give me total access to, and use of, Logos, which would be perhaps my main use for an iPad (I have an iPhone 4S).

I like white (my iPhone 4S color) but a coworker who has the iPad 1 and will be getting a 3 said he feels the black makes the screen colors stand out more. That may be true. But white looks nice!

Pre-ordered mine last night.  Now only 8 more days to wait!  I have had the iPad 2 for the past year and have found it to be a near perfect fit for my life.  My wife has been asking for one since I got mine so she will be getting my iPad 2 to use for herself and homeschooling the kids.  The biggest problem for us has been that I am a counselor and because I keep a large amount of confidential material on my iPad, no one, including my wife, can use it.  Getting the 3 will remedy that and give me a new toy to boot.  My iPad 2 is a 32gb wifi only model.  I have found the 32gb to be limiting for my purposes but that is because I keep a large number of files on it in addition to music, movies, etc.  So I will be getting the 64gb this time and am also opting for a 4g lte model on the verizon network.  One of the few places I cannot get wifi access is in my Sunday School class at church and would like to access online resources when teaching.  Can't wait!

    what are your thoughts re:

My answers will all sound like: "It depends upon your needs" [;)]

If you will be primarily online and if you don't care about putting many apps/games/music/video on your device, the 16GB is just fine. Otherwise, go bigger. To negate the need, Apple has taken seriously the notion of "the cloud."

WiFi + 4G or WiFi only?

I would only get the 4G if:

    1. You don't already have a smart phone with internet
    2. You will travel much or be in an area without wifi

I was given a 1 Gen 64GB iPad with 3G. We have really enjoyed using the 3G on trips, however, we were just given iPhones for Christmas. I don't plan on using the 3G again. Another option would be to get a mobile hotspot from a carrier. At least look at your options.

I've ordered a 64GB iPad.  I previously had a 32GB iPad (1st gen) and, to be honest, that had plenty of storage.  However, with the ability to take HD video, and be able to store more photos and music, I thought I would stretch the boat and go for the largest storage.

In terms of WiFi / 4G, I went for the WiFi only because I also have an iPhone which can be tethered to the WiFi only iPad to give me Internet access on the move (which, thus far, I've never needed.)  Also, I've read the 4G capabilities of the new iPad will be incompatible with 4G networks when they eventually hit the UK (as we'll use a different part of the spectrum to in the US - I think!)

I ordered one as soon as I could. I was refreshing the website while it was down hoping to jump on it as soon as it came back to life, but then I thought I'd be one who missed out because everyone who called got theirs first.

So I tried calling, and it took a while to get through, but I was able to place my order that way. It froze the system of the first two reps I talked to, but then they transferred me to a different sales department that was able to place the order. [They must run their sales software on PCs [;)] ]

I asked a couple of questions of the reps while I was waiting for them to figure out why their computer went down, and here are two interesting things they said.

    1. Apple believes they will have enough stock to meet demand by the 16th. So people intending to flip on eBay may be out of luck.

    2. When I asked if we would get it around the 16th, the rep said that they intend to ship them so that everybody gets them by the 16th. That sounds like a "Logos Christmas Credit" kind of promise to me! Not that I'm impatient or anything...

I cannot wait to load Logos on this bad boy, and I really hope it's an effective tool for studying and teaching. This is my first iPad, so I'm particularly excited!

I've never heard an iPad owner wish they had bought the smaller size, but several wish the other way. If you can afford it, the marginal increase in cost seems worth the marginal increase in capacity.

I don't know if this is true for "The New iPad 3 HD (tm)(R)", but someone told me that you would not get GPS in the old units unless you bought a cellular capable model. So even if you don't have to subscribe to a data plan, if you want that little blue GPS dot on maps, it might be worth it to get the 4G model. The specs page seems to indicate that it remains true for the new iPad.

It concerns me that LTE is bringing speeds up to 75 Mbps (I know it's just in theory) and the best data plans available give 5 or 10 GB / month. At top speeds you could blow through your monthly allotment in about 12 minutes.

After having an iPad 2 wifi, I upgraded to the 4g. My main issue was the very rare times I need/wanted Logos and/or other cloud based apps to work and I wasn't near wifi. For example, I was at a conference the other day and wanted to pull up something from my library but I didn't have wifi connection. So, I plan to get the cheap ATT plan and only use it in the rare times I need it and don't have wifi.

Ordered mine this morning. Been a proud owner of the first, second and now the third. I always get the highest capacity because the more you get used to it, the more you will fill it up. I also always get the version that allows connection to a carrier. Although I try to use it where free wifi is available, there are times when it isn't available and it is handy to be able to connect (and I live in metro Atlanta where free wifi is almost everywhere).  Another thought is that with investing in a device like this, I want my 'Find My iPad' functionality to always be available.

Last year I was first in line at a WalMart to get the iPad2 but I had to wait two hours to get it. This year I ordered online to save the hassle of waiting in a line and the stress that goes along with that! [:P].

Bummer that the full Siri is not available on this version... oh well...gotta save something for later I guess!

Personally I agree the black frames it in for the eye to focus on the screen. Then consider what case you will putnit in because lots of cases are black and cover the white/black border.

The tethering is a nice option but after my husband used it on his the iPhone battery drained pretty fast. After that happened enough times he bought another iPad2 with Wi-Fi+3G and dropped to the lowest Data Plan on his phone and increased the Data Plan on his iPad2. Has not regretted it at all. We wished we wouldmhave bought the Wi-Fi + 3G to begin with. Then we did some traveling via car and was very pleased we had the 3G capability and made use of it.

I have 32gb and will get 64GB next time because I use teaching videos for our Women's Bible Study as Facilitator I watch before Study to prepare. Video takes up space.

Also, the Apps themself take up space...when I updated to 5.1 it showed 10GB just for my Apps.

Take into consideration your needs and what you will use it for and then what you didn't even imagine it could be used for.

Chealer to buy the most capability than to not have the space and end up buying another one sooner than you had wanted or planned to.

As for the 1st one, they are already seeing shipping times delayed so get in their soon if you want a pre-ordered. Otherwise you can wait in line at Apple, Best Buy and possibly Target, Radio Shack and the wireless carriers Verizon and AT&T.

As for the second, Apple almost always hits those dates. I've been preordering for a few years now and I've never had to wait even one day. If they say the 16th, you will almost certainly get it the 16th.

What I will do is take my tracking number to the FedEX place near me (assuming its FedEX again) and ask them to hold it at the local warehouse and pick it up so I don't have to wait at home all day.

Not me. I was ready to jump if it had the 4-core CPU. But alas, it only has a 2-core CPU. I'll wait for a 4-core processor. And a few other things.

I don't think Logos, or any of the other apps I use, will greatly benefit from the HD graphics. And, I don't buy iPads with 3G/4G (WiFi only) - I'd rather spend the data-plan $$ on other stuff - so the 4G support doesn't give me reason to splurge. The telecomm industry already gets enough of my hard-earned $$ to pay for their over-priced services. I can do without that on an iPad.

Ordered mine yesterday: 16GB, WiFi, Black.  I have an unlimited data plan (Sprint) for my iPhone and most things are cloud based, so 16GB should be plenty for Logos/Vyrso (my primary purpose for getting it) to read the couple/few thousand, cover-to-cover books I have in my library.

Now just waiting on the new laptops to arrive later this year for complete portability of Logos.  I'm WiFi at home, church, all friend's homes, starbucks, McDonalds, etc.  I'll use tethered to iPhone occasionally if needed.

At home I use my 27" iMac...I think I'm covering all the bases.
