BUG: Content of note gets erased when syncing a numbered list to the iPhone
I've been running into an issue recently trying to sync certain notes between my Mac and iPhone. Most of the time, there is no problem in syncing back and forth. However, some of my notes that are big chunks of text in a numbered list (translation of a chapter, linked to the chapter number at the beginning of the text) will not sync properly. When the iPhone receives these notes, it places the colored square in the text like you'd expect. When I click on the square, though, the content of the note is nowhere to be seen. Then, when I look back at my Mac, the content of the note has been erased!
Any ideas as to why the iPhone erases the content of these notes?

Is this repeatable? Do you have some sample text?
It happens every time without fail. Here are some examples of what happens.
1. Original note text on Mac
2. What appears on iPhone3. What happens to the note on my Mac after my iPhone has received the dataLet me know if anything else would be helpful.(btw, on a slightly related note, I noticed that anytime a note is linked to a text, it only shows up in the notes pane if I click on the box in the text or click on the individual note itself. At all other times, it is collapsed. Is there any way to make linked notes always show their content?)0 -
I apologize for the formatting in my last post. I have tried to edit it to make it cleaner, but it keeps reverting to the formatting you see above.

- The word of the Lord, which came to Hosea of the Beeri in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah and in the days of Jereboam, son of Joash, king of Israel.
- The beginning of the word of the Lord in Hosea: And the Lord said to Hosea, "Go! take for yourself a prostitute and children of prostitution, because the adulterous land will engage in acts of unfaithfulness from behind the Lord."
- So, he went and took Gomer, daughter of Debelaim. And she became pregnant and gave birth to a son for him.
- And the Lord said to him, "Name him 'Jezreel,' because yet a little while and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel against the house of Jehu and I will remove the kingdom of the house of Israel.
- And it will be in the that day that I will crush the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel."
- And Gomer became pregnant again and bore a daughter. And the Lord said to Hosea, "Name her 'Not To Be Pitied,' because I will not again show mercy to the house of Israel, but rather I will align myself, an opposer, against them.
- But I will have mercy on the sons of Judah and I will save them by the Lord their God. But I will not save them by bow nor by sword nor by battle nor by chariots nor by horses nor by horsemen."
- And Gomer weaned Not to Be Shown Mercy, and she became pregnant again and bore a son.
- And the Lord said, "Name him 'Not My People,' because you are not my people, and I am not your I AM."
- And it was that the number of the sons of Israel was like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured out nor counted; and it will be in that place, where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' that they will be called sons of the living God.
- Both the sons of Judah and the sons of Israel will be gathered together at the same time, and they will set one rule for themselves and they will go up from the land, because the day of Jezreel is great.

You are asking about the note file being collapsed. Have you tried viewing your note file in "full" rather than "compact" mode?
EDIT: I have now experienced what you are talking about. The note I created earlier does not have this problem, but the text I copied and pasted from you does… I am perplexed.

Chris - The problem is different than what you think. When I copied and pasted the material you gave me, I played around with a couple of things. I created two notes: one attached to the "reference", the other attached to a "selection." Before I had a chance to check it out on my iPhone, the text was gone from the first note. I repasted the text back in, and on a hunch, restarted Logos. The text was then gone from both notes.
Where did you get the text from? Did you copy & paste it from someplace?

Chris - Try this text instead:
1. The word of the Lord, which came to Hosea of the Beeri in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah and in the days of Jereboam, son of Joash, king of Israel.
2. The beginning of the word of the Lord in Hosea: And the Lord said to Hosea, "Go! take for yourself a prostitute and children of prostitution, because the adulterous land will engage in acts of unfaithfulness from behind the Lord."
3. So, he went and took Gomer, daughter of Debelaim. And she became pregnant and gave birth to a son for him.
4. And the Lord said to him, "Name him 'Jezreel,' because yet a little while and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel against the house of Jehu and I will remove the kingdom of the house of Israel.
5. And it will be in the that day that I will crush the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel."
6. And Gomer became pregnant again and bore a daughter. And the Lord said to Hosea, "Name her 'Not To Be Pitied,' because I will not again show mercy to the house of Israel, but rather I will align myself, an opposer, against them.
7. But I will have mercy on the sons of Judah and I will save them by the Lord their God. But I will not save them by bow nor by sword nor by battle nor by chariots nor by horses nor by horsemen."
8. And Gomer weaned Not to Be Shown Mercy, and she became pregnant again and bore a son.
9. And the Lord said, "Name him 'Not My People,' because you are not my people, and I am not your I AM."
10. And it was that the number of the sons of Israel was like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured out nor counted; and it will be in that place, where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' that they will be called sons of the living God.
11. Both the sons of Judah and the sons of Israel will be gathered together at the same time, and they will set one rule for themselves and they will go up from the land, because the day of Jezreel is great.

Yes, I always have my note file in full mode. Any note that is not linked to a text always shows its content, but my notes that I have linked to a text collapse when I move on to a different note within the same file.

It's my own translation. I just typed it in as I went through the Greek.

I believe that this issue is directly related to the disappearing text, and has nothing to do with syncing to the mobile app (although possibly its related to syncing to the servers). There is something in the text itself which is causing this issue. The text I gave you above came from your text, but I stripped out everything by converting it to .rtf.
Where did you get the original text? (i.e. what steps did you use to acquire it)?

You typed it into the note from Logos? Or into another app? What version of Logos are you using?
Originally, I typed it into the note from Logos. I usually have the notes file open in its own pane and just type into it as I go, adding new notes every time I get to a new chapter. However, for what I am looking at right now, I copied it from a different note (not linked) and pasted it into a new linked note. I am thinking that the issue may be copy/pasting from a Logos note to another Logos note. The text you sent me to try works great (though the formatting is a little off due to it not being recognized as a proper list). It is on my Mac and my iPhone no problem. Also, the note is not collapsing on my Mac.
I just tried two things that may shed more light on this:
1. Created a note linked to a chapter, made a list, and typed directly into it (rather than copy/pasting from another note within Logos). No problems. Shows up on both, no collapsing on the Mac.
2. Created a note on the iPhone, linked to a chapter. Showed up on both, no problem. Then, I replaced the content of the note with the original copy/paste on my Mac. Once everything synced, it all reverted to what I had first typed into the note on the iPhone. Is the issue copying/pasting from one Logos note to another?
I'm running 4.5a SR-1 (4.51.0.2057).

Interesting thought… I need to run to pick up my son. I will check on this later. You might want to post this idea in the new thread I created so that Mac people see it (there is more traffic there). [:)]

While researching Logos 4.5b regressions on Mac, wondered if this Note issue was fixed ?
Keep Smiling [:)]
