Questions for Logos about Personal Books

Hi!

Here's some questions for Logos about Personal Books:

1. What is the situation with the "PB store"? When it will be launched?

I have understood that you have some concerns about the Public Domain resources and about the server/bandwith load when people are updating their PBs (if I have understood it right?). I have some suggestions:

a) Please allow us to select wether the PB we are compiling will be for private use, for a specific group(s) (we could use for example Faithlife groups for that), or for public (to the PB shop).

b) To solve the server/bandwith load problem: For group and public PBs, there should be an option wether we want to update the PB for syncing (group/public) or just for locally for ourselves (private) when we are recompiling it. That would reduce the load significantly, because we could update the PBs for public use only after we really see that they work properly (many times we need to recompile the PBs several times to fix all problems the may have).

c) About the Public Domain resources and PBs: You could set a guidelines that a particular PD resource in PB store would be removed if you decide to make an official Logos version of that available. So we could make PD books freely available in the PB store if we would accept that guideline. And if you would see our PD PBs helpful when making official Logos versions of them in Community Pricing, maybe the maker of that PB could have the official version for free?

2. Can we make Bible harmonies, lectionaries and interlinears with PBB? If so, are there codes how to make them (for harmony and lectionary a code to show a bible verse from an users preferred Bible translation, for interlinear a code to use BHS/LXX/NA27 text (or Lexham interlinears) if an user has a license for them)? I'd like to make also that kind of PB resources.

    2. Can we make Bible harmonies, lectionaries and interlinears with PBB?

Not really. One can create lectionaries that will appear in the home page ribbon but ...

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

    1. It's still planned, but I don't have an estimated date for when it will be launched.

1b. The PB sync feature was intended to work this way last time I saw the spec; see my earlier comments here: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/44755/334117.aspx#334117

    2. Harmonies and lectionaries are also planned, but not yet implemented. Interlinear support in PBB is not currently planned.

    Hi!

Thank you for the information! That's great to hear!

I hope to see the store sooner than later, and also the lectionary and harmony support for PBB. And also some kind of approximate release date for them. Also I hope see the interlinear support some day.

Some excellent suggestions which Logos could tweak in whatever way they need to.  Well though out.

Personal books interest me greatly, and improvements there are my number one interest.  However, I will always spend lots of money on books produced by Logos because of the quality and difficulty of making personal books - as well as copyright issues on so many resources.  I don't think personal books are any threat to Logos' bottom line.  Quite the contrary, in fact.  They make Logos a much more desirable product.

If I could just get them on my iPad!

Would love to have Bible open and sermon in a split screen.

I am hopeful it could be relatively soon because of the new sync structure in place.
