Note "Full" View not working properly

When I am viewing a notes document, all the highlights within that notes document are compact. When I select the "Full" view from the top right corner of the notes window, nothing happens (no difference etc). I was under the impression that this should expand my notes. Can someone please explain is this a 1) bug, 2) an oversight on my end, or a 3) feature that is not coded yet.

I can, however, click on individual notes (which are actually highlights) and they will expand. But I cannot expand more than one at a time. I would like all the notes within that note file to be expanded (which I presumed was the "Full" selection).

TIA!

It should expand all notes. What version of L4? Mac OS? Could you post logs? (See the second link in my signature)

ok. That's what I thought should happen, but that's definitely not what's happening. I'm using Logos Bible Software 4.5b SR-2 (4.52.0.2204)

I will try to figure out how to post logs.

Ok. I have the log files. Which ones are needed?

Just highlight all the logs, right click and select "compress X Items" then post the zipped file. What version of OS X are you using?

Noticed Indexer.log has Unix 11.3.0.0 so Lion OS version is 10.7.3

10.7.4 came out the other day. Can you update to that via your Apple menu? Do you have multiple note files you can try this on? If so is the behavior the same for all?

I can update when I get home from work. It will tax our feeble network to download the update right now. Regarding the other notes: I'm not clear what the behavior is supposed to look like.

What I would like is a note document that has all my highlights expanded. Since highlights are saved in notes, I presume this is doable. What I am seeing though is that in at least one of my other notes when I press "full" the comments show up under the snippet/highlights. I don't know how it's all supposed to work exactly. Even in the screenshot above, it's not the same.

My highlights don't wrap, so I can't read them. However, if I place notes under the highlights then it seems to work as it's supposed to--they wrap to form paragraphs and the notes show also. Without notes under them, they don't work properly.

+1 [Y] for Notes option to show all Highlighted words in the Title, which enables searching My Content for highlighted words: also requested in thread => REQUEST: highlighted text via note creation and searches

Option: can comment and/or vote for Logos User Voice suggestion => Highlighting and Notes Integration Improvements includes: "For note titles, please add choice to show abbreviated or complete highlighted selection."

I feel a little confused about how things are supposed to work. It seems fairly basic that I can highlight some things in a resource and then view a document (i.e., note file) that contains all my highlights. Right now those highlights do not wrap and I cannot read them without clicking on each individual entry. I really want to go paperless and use my iPad with my macbook. But I have to have a better flow with highlights and the note system (unless I'm missing something).

Appreciate confusion; highlighting on iPad appears different than highlighting done in Logos 4 Mac.  The iPad highlighting using Biblia app version 2.1.4 places first sentence of highlighting into the title, with the rest of highlighted words in the contents, but highlighting done using Logos 4.5c Beta 2 on Mac creates a Note title by replacing lots of words with ellipsis so title is nearly useless:

Personally prefer iPad highlighting appearance plus dreaming about Logos User Voice suggestion => Highlighting and Notes Integration Improvements

Current workaround is using iPad for highlighting, then sync to Logos 4.

To be perfectly honest, I am confused by this thread. [:$] I think that I understand what you are asking, but I am not sure about that. Please forgive me if I am missing the point of your question.

"Highlights" became "notes" in 4.5. Before this change, highlights were just something visual. Personally, I believe that this change has been a little bit more confusing than it could have been, and highlight "notes" could be more than they are.

Right now, highlight "notes" are not too useful by default. When you highlight text, a note is created in a note file (I assume you know how to change which note file the "note" goes into…), but the NOTE itself is EMPTY. In Logos 4, the note is given an identifier/title which uses part (or in shorter quotes, all) of the highlighted text. In the mobile app, the note identifier/title isn't able to be condensed, and instead shows the ENTIRE quote. Let me illustrate with some screen shots.

In the first screen shot, is a note in "compact" view. In the second screen shot is a note in "full" view, where the highlight was made in L4. In the third screen shot is a note in "full" view, where the highlight was made in the mobile app.

It seems like you are wanting "full" view to show you the quote in its entirety. Because of the bug (or limitation) of the mobile app, you can kind of do this by using the mobile app exclusively to highlight.

What I want to point out is that Logos has not intended highlight "notes" to function this way. To be honest, I am not sure what function Logos intended the highlight notes except that (my understanding at least) a change in method for notes was required for sync v.2. I also want to reiterate that the highlight "note" is EMPTY/BLANK (see second screen shot). Even in highlight notes taken on the mobile app, the long quote is really just the TITLE of the note.

By the way, here is my idea for an improvement in highlight notes. I would like 3 fields (instead of 2):

    1. Title (same as now, better if mobile app mirrored L4's behavior)
    2.  Quote (entire quote)
    3. Note Field (personal notes)

I also would like three views: Compact; Full; Notecard. Compact & Full should be self explanatory and function as the current app does. The note card view would show just the quotes.

One study technique using highlighting is marking words that show the primary point in a paragraph.  A note card view would be appreciated for looking at highlighted words.  Another use for looking at all highlighted words is studying themes.

Bingo Alabama! You, my friend, have clarified a lot for me. I didn't realize that the highlight was not the actual note, but the title of the note. So If I want to see my highlights in all their glory (i.e., full form and not compact), I will probably need to create a note under each highlight. It's all very confusing to me. I wish Logos clarified this a little better.

+1 for Logos clarification and integration improvements for Note highlighting, especially in Logos 4 on Mac and PC.  Concur current implementation is confusing.

In Logos 4, if want to see all highlighted words in Note file, then currently need to copy and paste words along with highlighting them.

Another confusing aspect of current Logos 4 highlighting title design is the inability to search My Content for highlighted words since the searchable words in a Notes file do not match words highlighted.  Workaround is highlight words, followed by copy and paste into Notes file so Notes file becomes a combination of highlighting notes plus clippings, which is a bunch of repetitive steps (especially for busy pastoral staff).
