Awesome, Steve! I like your style of explaining things. I haven't had a chance to review all these pages in depth but I did notice one little goof. The Library page says for step 2, "Click on the Heading bar as shown in the image below" -- but actually should be Right-click. I'd fix it, but it will involve fixing the graphic as well, so I thought I'd better leave it up to you.

I did make a couple of other minor edits to the Library page, though.

I learned something on Cited by tool, just browsing the wiki page you posted.

    Great job!

Hey, Steve. Thanks again for all your awesome wiki work. Any plans to flesh out the Highlighting page (http://wiki.logos.com/Highlighting) with more of your great graphics and explanations? I was just going to direct a user there who was asking about how to do highlighting, but realized it's just a single line of text for now.

4.0b has greatly expanded the capabilities of Highlighting so maybe it would be best to wait until 4.0b ships before posting it, as otherwise it would have to be redone, but at least if you have the beta already you could be working on it. If you don't, I might try to find some time to work on it.

I have noticed several features (Highlighting, Info, Notes, etc) that have changed in the Beta. I definitely would want to wait until the release. I am still running 4.0aSr3, so i can't experiment on those anyway. Also they may continue to evolve while in the Beta stage.

I really was thinking about doing the Highlight page a while back, but saw that Kevin had started it and i did not want to interfere with his efforts on this page.

As just mentioned, i avoid working on other's pages unless they haven't been updated for a significant period of time.

If i work on a page that someone else has started, i try to respect the other's work by placing it above my entries and many times will not make changes to their entries and leave them in tact.

Sorry for all the wordiness here. Bottom line, if Kevin doesn't want to do it and when 4.0b comes out, i would be glad to build the page.

Edit: (bad habit of not finish reading a post)

If you don't, I might try to find some time to work on it.

Go for it if you want, might check with Kevin first.

I had forgotten that I had started that page! [:)] Basically, I saw that there was nothing on the topic and decided to start it with a stub. Bottom line is, if you want to do it, I won't take offense if you wipe out my contribution with something better. If you don't, I'll do it after 4.0b goes gold.

The video are great. But sometimes they cover a lot of things which i can't remember. Which leads me to fiddling with pause, rewind; when trying to find how to do things. Glad i may not be the only one with this handicap [:)]

I'll let you do it. I am way over my head with stuff to do in my other life ([:)]), let alone all my plans to improve the wiki -- I still want to get back to the Visual Glossary, for example.

    Kevin,

i don't know original languages or how to use those tools sufficently to build wiki pages for them. You seem to know them well. i would be eternally grateful if you or someone who knows them (&how to build a wiki) would make these pages [:)]

Edit: notice my wording was poorly done. i know you know how to build pages!

OK, I threw something up there for now just for 4.0a (I'm hoping my screenshot is consistent with 4.0a and won't confuse people; I grabbed it from 4.0b Beta 7, but only after deleting all my custom created highlighting styles and palettes, which I was just messing around with anyway). Could someone who has 4.0a SR-3 (Steve?) confirm that my screenshot does look exactly like what you see? I don't think they added any more built-in styles in 4.0b, but I can't remember what was there in 4.0a. Here is the page: http://wiki.logos.com/Highlighting

But Kevin, you can do the update once 4.0b ships if you like, or I am happy to do it if I have time. Let's just coordinate with each other so as not to wipe each other's work out if one of us has the page in edit mode while the other is also editing it.

Ok, I just did some revisions to your work Rosie, mostly removing the clash between my work and yours. I would be tempted to start work on 4.0b stuff, only it crashes Logos every time I try to start the highlighting tool (and I broke it about 15 minutes after I downloaded it! [:(]). Here's hoping for Beta 8!

I just read through this page and I think it could do with some updates, if you have the time:

    1. It sounds as if it can only be used with Bibles. Perhaps that was true at the time, but it isn't now.
    2. It sounds as if it can only show collections. Perhaps that was true at the time, but now the list shows mytags and series as well.
    3. You might consider adding Andrew's new video. It's very Catholic (for those who object to that...), and it's only partly on using the Cited By tool, but until Mark finds time to do something it's probably the best video we've got on what can be done with Cited By. (Logos video is woefully inadequate.) (And even if you don't add it here, it should be added to the Video page.)

i will look into that time permitting. Thanks for itemizing current differences! This may take a week or two as i am preparing to be watching my grandkids as my son & daught-in-law head for a mission trip to China, then the following week i will be busy with VBS. But in quiet times i will review your items and the current abilities in Cited By and update the wiki page accordingly.

    Thanks

I've spent so much time fighting with and reporting bugs and 'issues' that after all this time I've still never really found the time to look into Cited By, Explorer and the Power Lookup (isn't that a shame!). Andrew's video and the follow up post on the Power Lookup made me curious. So I'm reading through the pages for my own sake, and figured I might as well jot down what came to mind while doing it. So there will be more to come. But just because it happens to be convenient for me right now, doesn't mean you have to do it right now. Do it whenever suits you. And thanks again for your work on these pages!

    1. My Content now includes more than just Notes.
    2. Do you know where the Cross References are taken from? It so, I suggest adding that information. (Wasn't there a thread about this on the forums at some time?)
    3. Commentaries also searches Bible Notes.
    4. I suggest adding a tip about hovering to get a popup, not just about clicking to open the resource itself. (Coming to think of it I believe the Cited By page did the opposite: mentioned hovering but not clicking.)
    5. Do you know what SmartTextPanel is?

i believe its from New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. You might search through forum post via google for cross-references, a post that sticks in my memory was when meta-data changed and the older version of TSK disappeared, i remember replying to it since i had both versions.

    Power Lookup

    • The "There is a new link type ... called Follow" could probably be reformulated by now. It's not that new any more. (Actually, reading on, I'm wondering if the whole section "Why does it jump..." couldn't be removed, as there is a whole section on linking towards the bottom.
I'm coming to the conclusion that the Power Lookup ought to be very useful for fine-tuning prioritization. Quick and easy feedback on whether you have things in the order you want them.

My memory differs slightly here - doesn't it also include some (prioritized) (study) Bibles?

My memory (i should say my assumption) is that this is similar or the same as Cref from the PG. You may be correct??? The PG shows us where it got it from (NTSK).

The top section, under the Cross
References section, is a list of cross-reference resources in your
Library, such as the TSK or NTSK. The data type for these resources is
    'Bible Cross-Reference Index'.

The lower section is a combination of cross-reference footnotes from
Bibles in your library. These are sorted first by frequency, then in
canonical order. The top five verses include a preview.

I'm on stable, and it's in People, Places & Things, so I doubt it's a resource difference. I didn't see it more than that once, and it wasn't a link, just a 'word'. My first thought was that it was a piece of code that should have been invisible but wasn't for some reason -- but then I don't know the first thing about programming so I'm hesitating to even mention that thought.

Look at that! I just did the smart thing: googled, and what do you think turned up at the top? http://community.logos.com/forums/p/50436/372394.aspx. That web site looks familiar somehow... I think I'll go and add a link to this thread in that one. [:)]
