I am interested to know other forum members thoughts on the Boice's Expositional Commentaries collection.
With these commentaries on a very good sale now, I was wondering how useful other forum members find this collection?
I'm also interested in hearing other people's opinions on these commentaries as they are being offered for a very good price (~$3.70 per volume!).
I found this old thread on them:

They sound like good expository/devotional commentaries.
Also, they generally appear to get very favorable reviews on Amazon.
I was unsure so went to my twitter friends: https://twitter.com/JoshCousineau/status/219924024908709888
I can't seem to get the coupon code to work however...
The coupon code worked for me last night. Maybe try again?

I think that Boice's Expositional Commentaries are an exceptional collection of expository sermons on the Scripture. I have them and use them often. They are well worth the price.
Now, they are not a replacement for exegetical commentaries. (I would still want to first do my own exegesis, then use my NIVOT NIVNT, Word Biblical, Pillar, or Interpretation Commentaries.)
Boice's Commentaries are marvelous models of how to preach the Scripture in a way that will change lives. Boices illustrations of biblical truth are especially good. He does not disappoint.
I have often read Boice and thought, "Gee, I wish I had said that. And soon I did!" (Just kidding. I don't plagerize my sermons, but I do often quote Boice and use his illustrations from time to time.

I have them and find them very helpful, having good application and useful illustrations. Also, Boice does a good job pointing out different understandings of a passage or doctrine and then giving what he thinks is the best choice and why.
It would be more accurate had they been called "Expositions" than Expositional Commentaries, IMO. I think they are basically his expository sermons edited for publication.
[Edit: I see that Michael posted his reply while I was typing mine. [:)]]
Thanks all. I went ahead and got them. The deal was too good to pass up :-)
That's an insanely good deal, IMO. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
i took advantage of the offer as well. I quickly glanced at them after download and I am very pleased with the purchase.
I bit. As long as you understand they are homiletical commentaries you will be pleased.
I cannot believe this. I just paid full price last week. Will Logos honor a credit since I just got them? This stinks.
They have taken care of me in the past when it happened to me. I am sure they will do what is right.
Jason,
Logos is a company that shows lots of grace, and they may well do something for you about this if you contact them. But the comment "This stinks" strikes me as odd. Do you mean it stinks that you bought a product that you wanted and soon it went on sale? Then would you never want the company to put anything on sale - because somebody always has just bought it at full price? What would be fair - say if you bought a product and it went on sale in a week, or a month, or six months?
I do hope they can work it out for you.
Jason, because you benefit from a 30 day money back guarantee - and could in theory return the resource you bought and re-buy it at the lower price - I'm sure that Logos will refund the difference to you.
Just to let you guys know, they took care of me. When I said "this stinks", I was just frustrated that I paid so much for it, not realizing logos would honor that new price. All is good!
Glad to hear it, Jason. I've always found Logos to be very fair in such matters.
. That's great, Jason. As Paul pointed out the 30 days money back guarantee amounts to a 30 day best price guarantee.
I went ahead and got them too. I've seen it for $89.95 with a third party, but that'll likely never happen again as I've notice that the third party is jacking up their prices. They had some nice works for $9.95, now they have them for $19.95. They had the preacher's commentary for $15 now they uped it to $59 and so on. So I took advantage of this "once in a lifetime" sale...[:P] So far so good...
