New Books from Crossway?
Logos, it seems like the catalog on Vyrso is slow to update with newer releases from Crossway. There have been a number of books I have been looking for and really want them in Vyrso but may end up picking up in Kindle against my will.
For example, Finding Faithful Elders & Deacons by Thabiti Anyabwile would be a very good addition that I'm really wanting to read: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1433529920/theunofficreggie

Another example...I really don't want to have to buy Kindle but the slowness to update catalog is forcing me: http://www.crossway.org/books/understanding-scripture-tpb/

Hi Jacob,
You‘d better read the Amazon Associates operating agreement carefully. Amazon tends to close accounts that violate the terms.
I‘m not going to report you on this of course. Just see this as free advice, and it‘s up to you what to make of it.
Blessings,

JanI'm confused...Jacob is saying if Vyrso doesn't carry the books published by Crossway he wants, he will purchase them from Amazon in the Kindle format. How does purchasing a book from them violate their operating agreement? Why would they close an account for purchasing a book?

The link to Amazon he posted is an affiliate link. He earns up to 15% commission. If anyone clicks this link, and orders anything from Amazon in the following 24 hours, Jacob earns commission.
The operating agreement explicitly disallows the use of affiliate links on any other page than the ones the affiliate user owns personally.

I still want this book.

It's not just Crossway books. I would really like to have Logos/Vyrso be my sole system for electronic books, but there are sooooo many books not offered in the Logos/Vryso format. Most of the books I would like to order are not available for Logos/Vyrso. Is there a place we can request books so Logos can see there is a market for specific books? It could be somewhat like Pre-pub selections, except that the selections would be community generated rather than Logos generated.

I would keep checking back. I just noticed a few a weeks ago a flood of Zondervan titles that were new. I think Crossway will be adding more. You might email Crossway and request that they add the books you want to their Vyrso offerings.

Care to name a few authors, titles, publishers?

All books by Graeme Goldsworthy and Tim Keller (why are his sermons available but not his books?). Several of Michael Horton's are not in the pre-pub collection. Eugene Peterson has a boatload of books dealing with pastoral theology and ministry. Jonathan Dodson's new book on Gospel-Centered Discipleship would be a great addition. The J.I. Packer selection is pretty sparse. Due to lack of availability, I've had to buy hard copies or Kindle books. I think some of my disappointment is that it seems most new books being published today are available as Kindle books, and so few are available as Logos books. I much prefer the Logos format. It seems Vyrso is making a push in the right direction, but there is still quite a lag. And sadly, I'm not sure I can afford the Logos versions if/when they become available.

I noticed this too on free books. I get a newsletter each day on new Christian ebooks that have been released, saying what is on sale, and what is free. For a while there it seemed that Vyrso was keeping up with the big "a", but not so much lately...

I think there are two things at play: 1) Many of the offers are extended by the publisher, but Vyrso obviously can't offer the deal if they don't (yet) have the book in inventory. I've noticed some freebies lately from a publisher Vyrso doesn't carry… it isn't a major label that I know of. 2) Sometimes Amazon offers freebies at a loss (called a loss leader). Vyrso may do that from time to time, but I would not expect that as often as "the big 'a'".

I don't care if they give me free books...I just want the books available.

Don't care about free books? Heresy! [:)]
I don't think the delay has anything to do with free books. Did you think I was implying that? I was merely referencing Vyrsos ability to keep up with freebies and other discounts, which is what I thought Paul was talking about.
I do know that several books I wanted have made their way in... but I am waiting for a sale or gift money to get them.

No I think free books and new books are probably two separate issues.
I was just hoping that Vyrso would let me have the books I want from major publishers available in a timely fashion on Logos. The delays are horrible

I think they are working on it, but it is taking a while. I don't know if you have noticed, but they have started to do some "pre-pub" releases. Some of them are books which have already been released, but many have not. I hope that means that they will be available on "day 1."

Yet some others remain unpublished in Vyrso (http://community.logos.com/forums/p/65016/468635.aspx). The one I really want is God's Glory in Salvation Through Judgment - James Hamilton
