Nexus 7 Experience (Bugs/Suggestions)
I'm still new to Logos and still learning my way around, but I have to say it is awesome. I haven't been this excited about something in a long while. And the Nexus 7 is a near perfect device to pair it with.
I detailed an earlier problem with download in the Offline Bibles? topic. After uninstalling, wiping the related directories from the SD card, I was able to get most of the stuff installed I wanted to. There were still one or two that I tried to download, that were listed as Public Domain, that would not download. The one I noted was "Apocrypha of the Old Testament". I'm still not sure why the problem occurred.
Another note on that: after uninstalling & wiping sd card, upon installing Logos it started downloading some of the resources I was able to select on the initial install. There must be something there somewhere that remembers the installed set. The app was unusable until it completed downloading.
ISSUES
- Generally downloading anything causes the app to be extremely slow and unusable. I would think that downloads should happen in another service instead of the main app and then send an update notification to the library on completion to tell it to update.
- I can't find a way out of the built-in store, other than pressing back dozens of times or killing the app and relaunching it.
- When launching, the login screen is displayed a second or so, but it is never needed and never accessible: you can't click on anything. That was confusing the first couple times. I would suggest it load directly to the main app, unless it can't login.
- On several occasions, it has forgotten it's place upon reopening (usually after a crash or after shutting down the Nexus 7). It would be nice if it stored the current book(s) and locations within the books immediately after navigating to a new location so that it can always restart at the same spot.
SUGGESTIONS
- Add Quick Picks (priority books). Eg. At the top of each pane next to the resource/book title, have a little down arrow that the user can press to drop down a list of priority or favorite books. The top pane could list of bibles/devotionals. The bottom pane could list commentaries. The lists could be a vertical list of 3-5 titles or a horizontal list of 3-5 icons with abbrev titles. This will make it easy to browse several commentaries when reading or quickly switch bible translations in church/class to follow the pastor/instructor in their translation.
- Echo the desktop app design, by having Home/Library/Search tabs. I would never have found devotions if I hadn't stumbled upon a post on the forum here. (Same with History). I'd love a version of the home page that contained news, devotions, reading plans, proclaim presentations, etc. Much more intuitive than having devotions on the search tab.
- Move Store access to the Library tab instead of in Settings.
- Move History access to the main reading page on the flick down menu near favorites. When using Logos in church/class I find there is often a main passage and several references, so I'm switching back and forth. History would be more useful if it is more easily and quickly accessible.
I love these apps, the mobile and the desktop and I look forward to spending a lot of time in them. Thanks for an awesome resource.

In the library search, typing an apostrophe does not match an apostrophe in a title. I can't get a search string to match against Expositor's or Disciple's, etc. As soon as I type an apostrophe, It returns zero matches.

When reading devotionals/reading plans, It would be nice if the back button returned to the list of devotionals. Like where in the passage guide you can click on refs or commentaries, view the resource and the hit back to return to passage guide. It would make reading multiple devotionals and plans much easier.
I can't get anything done for spending all my time in Logos.

A two-finger swipe from left to right will go back in history. I use this to go back from the passage I'm reading to Carson's "For the Love of God" devotional book. Unfortunately, there's a ***LONG-STANDING BUG*** which puts one recent item between the current Bible passage and the devotional book (in my example). That item is whatever the most recent passage you were at in that Bible prior to the one you went to from the devotional. It's super-annoying.
