Personal Collated Files

Hi

Just wondering if anyone else has come across the fact that Logos seem to be blocking the personal books that I have collated presumably because they are the same as those they are selling themselves and don't want me to have access to them. The blocking message begins "you don't have a licence to access this resource but you". Can anyone comment as I feel it is wrong of Logos to interfere with my "Personal Books".

Gerald, I've never seen this happen. How should Logos determine this? Can you give more details?

The blocking message begins "you don't have a licence to access this resource but you".

This is the usual message when Logos wants to access a book but it's not on your system.

E.g. You created the PB on your work PC and then open it on your home PC: since PB's are not (yet) synchronized, the file is absent. However, since you still have the licence, you could copy the file to the home PC and use the SCAN command (or rebuild the PB from the docx on the second machine).

It does sound like you are trying to access your PB on a second computer.  This is the error message that I received when I tried to do this.

    Hi Folks

Thanks for replies. Just to say  I'm not trying to access the PBB's on a second computer. I'm still using the same computer I've always used for my Logos4 work.

This still sounds more like an error than a stealth feature to me.

Sure the PB-file (not the docx) is existing and available to your user?

    Tried to rebuild it?

Could you share the file (in case it's a Public Domain work) or at least a screenshot from the entries you made in the PB fields?

What about a Diagnostic Log (starting Logos with CTRL pressed will make a file called Logos4.log in the "Logos Log Files" folder)?

    Hi Folks

It seems as if sync is not working on my PBB's. I have opened quite a number of them & they all come up with the message above & yet sync is on on my machine. Anyone know what problem might be. Have tried reinstalling docx in several PB but seems to make no difference. Anyone shed light on this problem? Thanks, Gerald

The code to sync PB's is not written as of yet.  You need to manual copy the docx file to the other machine(s) and recompile the books.

    Gerald,

    Tom is right:

The code to sync PB's is not written as of yet.  You need to manual copy the docx file to the other machine(s) and recompile the books.

However I'm still not sure what you intend to do - maybe I misunderstood when you wrote earlier about the one computer you always use for Logos: why would sync be an issue at all? Or do you mean L3 PBBs, where you synchronize licence of Libronix/Logos books with the licence server? You can't read L3 PBBs in  Logos 4 at all, and this code not only isn't written yet, according to Bob it won't ever be.

Have tried reinstalling docx in several PB but seems to make no difference.

I don't get the "reinstalling" part of that. And when you rebuild a PB from a docx it will work, I've never heard of anyone who built or rebuilt a PB and then got a "you have no licence" error. Could you explain us in detail what you tried to do (screenshots will usually help a lot)?

To track down what your problem is can you:

    1. Verify that the file is a .docx file

    2. Rebuild the file in the Personal book panel

    3. Post any error file from the rebuild in this thread

    4. Open the file from the Personal book panel and give us the exact error message

It would also be helpful to see screenshots for steps 1,2 & 4.

I'm sure we can identify the problem from these steps. Thanks.
