Questions for Logos users that have Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew. How has it benefited you? Would you recommend it?
It really depends on how well you know the original languages. It is a pretty good series for those who have limited experience in the original languages. If you already have a pretty good handle (ie. you can read from your Greek and Hebrew without many helps) on your languages, it isn't going to be as helpful. I bought and returned them because of some disappointments over the audio quality of the initial release. I believe they fixed these issues, but I never repurchased the videos because it was almost all review for me.
The audio issues have been addressed and corrected. Personally, as someone who knows very little Greek and Hebrew these videos are amazing. Not so much because they teach the language but because they explain (very thoroughly) how to use Logos effectively. To be honest they are more of an instructional video about using the Original language tools in Logos then they are teaching the language (Hints the name "How to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew"). I would definitely recommend them!
Thanks Jonathan. That makes sense!
John Knight-It sounds like they are helpful then!
Welcome [:D]
Recommendation depends on your original language knowledge. Personally Thankful for couple video series => Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew with Logos Bible Software (pre-publication purchase) and => Introducing New Testament Discourse Grammar: Video Series that focuses on dialog conjunctions since both sets of videos expanded my Greek knowledge from a couple Bible College courses.
Likewise Thankful for => Greek New Testament Discourse Bundle (9 vols.)
Hoping for more pre-orders of => Lexham Discourse Hebrew Bible Bundle (6 vols.) so Logos can change status from Almost There to Under development.
Keep Smiling [:)]
This set is on sale until Oct. 25 at a good price. I have the the Scholars Library. Will I need to upgrade to use the features in these DVDs?
Scholars should be fine. I recommend purchasing it at this price
Thanks David. I placed my order. If anyone else is interested the offer expires tomorrow.
It's still a bit expensive.
For TV there's this: http://www.amazon.com/Basics-Biblical-Testament-Lecture-Series/dp/B004XWLY5Q but I don't have a U.S. or Japanese TV (actually I haven't ever had any TV in my home and don't want one).
Do these videos provide more help with using the Greek and Hebrew tools in Logos than what one gets with Camp Logos 2? I have been to Camp Logos 2. The price is reasonable for the videos, but not if it does not enhance my ability to use the Logos Greek and Hebrew tools.
Those videos aren't much less than the sale price of the Logos DVDs and they do not show you how to use the Reverse Interlinear, Search, Lexham discourse resources and Bible Word Search features of Logos
I haven't been to Camp Logos so can't compare for you.
What's the exact title of the Lexham discourse resources that are needed?
Lexham discourse resources
What's the exact title of the Lexham discourse resources that are needed?[
I don't know what you mean by "resources that are needed"
The Logos videos will help you use the logos resources like Lukaszewski, Albert L. and Mark Dubis. The Lexham Syntactic Greek New Testament: Expansions and Annotations, Logos Bible Software, 2009. and , Deppe, Dean. The Lexham Clausal Outlines of the Greek New Testament. Bellingham, WA: Logos Bible Software, 2006.
These resources help figure out the meaning that is communicated on the phrase and clause level.
Also the logos videos help you use the strength of the logos version of lexicons with things like sympathetic highlighting.
I have the "Learn To Use biblical Greek and Hebrew Videos" and I would highly recommend them. Both sets of videos are valuable in showing you how to use the software. They not only give you great assistance in using the software; they also give a great overview of the languages and the benefit of knowing Greek and Hebrew.
I bought them at the pre-publication price and very thankful that I did.
Hi All,
Just wondering, are the videos in "Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew with Logos Bible Software" compatible with Logos 5? Or only Logos 4?
In other words, if they were shot using Logos 4, has the interface and features changed significantly in Logos 5 to make them not helpful?
Is there a similar product for Logos 5?
Cheers.
Thank you.
Hi Tim - and welcome to the forums

In general, the L4 functionality has been superseded by L5 and so the features described in the videos will continue to work with some differences to the UI.
There are some L5 features which won't be covered in the current videos.
There is one feature which has changed in L5 - visual filters for Hebrew texts - which means that the L4 videos would need to be updated for that. This is being worked on as discussed in the thread at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/61286.aspx
Hope this helps
