Bible Study

I have been leading bible studies with college students using my iPhone and realized how great this app was. One thing I was wondering that would be super helpful is this:

Is there a way to view the questions/notes you have for a certain passage on the split screen mode?

Basically I want to have the bible pulled up on one pane, with my questions for the students, my notes on certain passages, etc. on the other pane. Is this possible

welcome to the Logos user forums! It's a pleasure to hear that you use the app for bible studies.

While I'm not qualified to answer your question properly (using the Vyrso app Android version only a few times on my Kindle Fire since two weeks ago), it seems to me that the app was explicitly designed to be a "no features=no hassle" reading application, which may mean that what you are looking for is outside of the design spec.

Did you have a look at the free Logos app? This probably would be more feature-rich. Maybe if you crosspost in the iPhone-forum some seasoned users like Alabama can answer your questions and help you forward.

Hi Drew

NB.Mick is right that you can do what you are looking for in the Bible app (as opposed to Vyrso). I use it regularly in this way on my iPAD (not sure how you would get on in terms of screen size on the iPhone).

Basically you have the Bible open in one half of the split screen and open a Notes document in the other. You can create the Notes document on either your mobile device or on your desktop computer (if you run Logos there) and they will stay synchronised.

Hi Drew!

Welcome to the forums, we are excited that you are find Vyrso useful in your Bible Study! As the other forum users mentioned the functionality of having one pane of notes and one pane with the Bible isn't incorporated in the Vyrso app.

However, if you were to make a note in an ebook, you could read the note by tapping the icon and a pop-up will display. This will maintain your point of reference in the ebook and will allow you to keep your point of reference in the second pane (whether you use if for the Bible or another ebook). Here are a couple of screenshots displaying what this would look like:

I realize this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but hopefully it provides the basic functionality you are looking for with notes. Feel free to let me know if you have more questions!

Hi Graham,

Thanks for the reply to my last post! When you said I can open a Notes document in one half of the split screen and open the Bible in the other, do you mean that the Notes document can be read in the "half-pane" by itself?

What I have been doing is this:

1. I make a notes documents on my computer with my Bible study notes.

2. I attach this notes document to the first word of the Bible passage we are reading for that week.

3. When I lead my Bible study, I open the Bible in both the left and right screens.

4. I tap the highlighted word in the left screen, causing a notes document box to appear only on the left screen.

5. I then proceed with the Bible study in this fashion.

Is this the only way this can work? Or can I open up a Notes document in one of the screens without having the Bible opened up there?

Yes you can.

In the screenshot below I have two resources open with the one of the right "in focus" (pressed on it). I then pressed on the "Home" icon in the top-left of the screen

You will see a thin column has appeared on the left of the screen.

Swipe left/right in this until you get to the documents menu which should include the notes file you are working on. Press on this and it will replace the resource in the right split of the screen.

Yes. The menu structure is slightly different, but similar. Make sure you press the second button (magnifying glass) and swipe through the panels.
