has anyone here in the forums made this jump, from MediaShout to Proclaim?
i'm currently debating ProPresenter, MediaShout, and Proclaim. any thoughts are welcome :-)
We're currently evaluating Proclaim vs. Media Shout (3.5), but haven't decided things yet. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.. although, right now, it seems like some of Proclaims advantages are possibly winning.
What did you guys decide to do? We are a Media Shout 3.5 church and are looking into proclaim also. I personally run the computer for MS and I really dislike MS but I'm not sure what to think about the dependability of proclaim. What were the advantages to proclaim that you liked?
We are a mediashout 4 user. But have tried out Proclaim for the last several months. I really like parts of proclaim - I really like parts of MediaShout. Today was one of those days where Proclaim made me a little crazy. For some reason it would not sync files this morning - very frustrating! I really like to be able to build the script for Sunday morning without having to either be in the media office or needing to back it up to a thumb drive. So proclaim is really nice - when it will sync. The frustrating thing about proclaim is that it has very few adjustments that you can make with the backgrounds. For example, in MediaShout if you have a background that is 16:9 and your output is 4:3 there are several options (including custom) to make it work. If you use a different size background in Proclaim, you are stuck with bars. There are other things too that frustrate me with Proclaim, but there are many advantages. Especially being able to run the software from a Tablet. MediaShout does have a new app for the Ipad but not for Android tablets. I also really like phone and tablet app for the audience. This makes me want to continue to use it, but this morning I was close to uninstalling Proclaim!
i'm still in the debate. i was able to resolve some of the issues we had with MediaShout for the short-term, and i'm still looking at Proclaim and ProPresenter in local churches that are using them.
Unfortunately, i can see the pitfalls of Proclaim's syncing and formatting limitations... i wonder what we'd do if we had no wifi available and no one has a hotspot with them...
and i got bombarded on Twitter by the ProPresenter folks, and most of the other churches around me use ProPresenter, so i'm trying to determine how much of its functionality we'd actually be able to use in our more rural, smaller context.
i will be running a service using Proclaim only on the first week of February, so i'll have a better hands-on feel than just the demo at that point.
David,
I understand your situation. I Pastor a small, rural church, but I also have a small business that installs cameras, projectors, etc. I will say this about ProPresenter. If you are a Mac user, there is no better software to use. I am not a Mac guy (mostly because of how much they cost!), and I have not found ProPresenter to be nearly as useful on a PC. I have played with Song Show plus and Easy Worship, but I found MediaShout or Proclaim to be the best for our application. I wish you luck with your search! Every user is different, so try them all out if you can.
We have both... I used ProPresenter for all of 2011-12
I just started using Proclaim and while there are features I like about Proclaim, overall from a presentation standpoint ProPresenter gives SO MUCH more options. I want to love Proclaim due to cloud syncing, android app, signals, etc... but i am quickly seeing the limitations. I am doing a complete write up from my experience with Proclaim. I will give it another Sunday before I post to make sure last Sunday wasn't a fluke
Our church used to use MediaShout. We switched to Proclaim about a year ago. I wasn't on the media team when we used MS, but those who were say they like Proclaim much better.
From the people I know who have used ProPresenter they say it is absolutely awesome! I'm told it is very powerful, has lots of options, but has a steep learning curve. It's my understanding, though, that if you have the money (it's pretty pricey) and some tech-savvy people to run it, it is well worth it. However, if cost is a factor (ProPresenter is pricey itself, but is even more so when you take into account how many machines will run it, site licenses to run it in more than one location (main service, young adults service, youth) and upgrades) then I wil say that Proclaim is a great product.
With that said, Proclaim is not perfect and there are limitations. However, if you take time to learn the limitations and learn how to work within those limitations, and, if you don't expect it to do all of the things that ProPresenter can do then Proclaim is an amazingly awesome program. For the most part, I have been quite pleased with it over the last year.
I realize that this thread is a few months old, but I'm hoping someone will respond. Our church is looking at changing presentation software.
I am interested in hearing what people have to say about Proclaim vs. the others. David Calvert and George Drake. I am interested in hearing what you ended up doing. George, can I get a copy of your write up?
Thank you
Neal, I just read through this forum and see that you posted this week. I have the same questions as you. But instead of waiting on these other guys you can call up the sales department and tell them that you are interested in exploring their product but not ready to commit. I did that and was offered a 3 month free trial pass that will remove the watermark from the On Air display. So if I don't like it I'm not out any money.
Wow! 90 days! Nice!
I'm a long time SSP user, I've used it at a couple of different churches and prefer it's user friendliness and features to other software's. I couldn't imagine using an online service like Proclaim, but to each his own. I believe SSP's yearly fee is optional so you can still use the software even if you don't pay it, but you lose access to things like updates. If you have questions I would contact them; I think they may even have training videos available (I'm a visual person) [:)]
