Comments
- Fixed bug which caused existing collections utilizing ratings to employ both personal and community ratings. Note:
To set up a Collection for personal ratings use ‘myrating:x’. Existing
collections using ratings have been migrated to use this tag. - Show registration date (useful for when apps were registered on same device mutliple times, i.e., after device wipe, etc.)
- Show additional info to identify device (useful in cases where a user has more than one of the same device model and apps were registered on all of them). Amazon uses device serial number, but not sure if this is the wisest choice.
Buried in the Bug Fixes please note this important change:-
Collections
You need to use myrating: in Library in place of rating:
Also, if you have installations with 5.0a and 5.0b, there will be a conflict with use of rating: and myrating: in your collections, so you need to update to 5.0b ASAP.

Not at least in one instance. Here is what I had: (type:commentary AND rating:>=4) OR (Series:Preacher's AND rating:>=3) That now produces for me 292 resources.
(type:commentary AND myrating:>=4) OR (Series:Preacher's AND myrating:>=3) is my manual correction to get what I originally had before 5.0b. It yields 275 resources. The difference is the community rated resources meeting the rating requirement that are not handled by this 'migration'.

Oh my!
If it is working it may be only in instances where 'rating' appears in a simple expression and not in nested and/or Boolean statements like mine.
I am too lazy right now to go through all my collections to find the few others that are based on ratings. I knew of this one from beta testing. It didn't migrate too well.
Edit: it did work for a couple of simpler collection rules I easily found:
type:monograph myrating:>=0 -Perseus
myrating:>=0 -Perseus
In these cases 'rating' was changed correctly to 'myrating'. Looks like complex expressions will be the ones to give trouble.

Well, to be honest I thought my '5 ways to crash Logos' was a goner.
But yes, let the new count begin!
I already crashed it just turning off the community settings. 30 seconds flat.
Just keeping a nice chipper attitude about Logos reliability.

Thoughts?
I am not having problems with crashes. None in beta testing of this release either.
If anyone gets a crash, posting logs is the only way to troubleshoot the problem and help Logos build a better product.

Chuck, I wouldn't worry about it. It crashed on L5-Windows community tags. In any event I re-started and looked to see what it was. Maybe a fender-scratch and no need to call the insurance company. Marked the bumper with #1.
Have a nice Holy Lent (saw your thread).
EDIT: I did test out the 'sense' in NRSV and it works. Then when I checked 'camp' in Deu, the density graph doesn't appear correct (word use relative to book length?). In any event Num shows but not Lev. So probably need to mouse it unlike BWS density graphs.

DMB, you have a knack for breaking things. You should apply for a job in Logos's testing department. They need people like you who can break it in-house before it gets released to the world.

That reminds me... we have two testing positions open right now: http://www.logos.com/jobs/SDET, http://www.logos.com/jobs/software-tester. If you know anyone who's interested in a job like that, please encourage them to apply.

Went into program settings and told it to turn off community tags. The tags still appear. Waited about 30 seconds. Does the program need to restart? If so, this information needs to be put in the popup coming from the question mark in settings.
The tags pane was already showing at the time.

Again, this all happened in beta together with a similar request to document it. I'm very disappointed that Logos don't hear or communicate. At least you didn't crash.

I'm not able to reproduce this. If you can reproduce it easily, a screencast may be helpful.
What is the "tags pane"?
Hi
My computer isn't able to update for some reason. When I start Logos it asks if I'd like to update and say yes. It begins install but then I get the following pop-up:
"Error writing to file: C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Local\Logos4\en-US\logos.exe.mui. Verify that you have access to that directory" and when I click "retry" it just keeps popping up. I can personally navigate to that file but the Logos install doesn't seem to be able to. I've disabled my antivirus and still didn't work.
Specs: Windows 8 Pro - 64-bit on a Dell XPS laptop with i7-2760QM 8 GB RAM and AVG anti-virus
Current version of Logos: 5.0a SR-4 (5.0.1.0291)
Thanks
Hi Tony,
Sorry about the trouble. Try the solution here http://www.logos.com/support/logos5/windows/error-writing-to-file. Let me know if that helps or not.

On the layout panel naming change.
I noticed if I am in a named panel and decide to use it as a starting place to create a different pattern, then I go and name the new one, the focus does not change and would have caused problems if I had not noticed it. What I mean is that there is a check mark on the one I started with. Then I create a new name from the changes. That stores properly, but the check mark stays on the first layout. Now if I started reading on my new layout I would be in the old one and when I quit I would lose all I did. So I went and selected the new one I stored and it completely overwrote the one I was in, even though they were the same. I hope you understand what I am trying to convey. When you rename a layout to a new name at the current layout, it saves but does not change the focus to that new name. This could cause problems I think.
Absolutely correct Michael. When you 'save' a layout, it requires a 'renaming' process, at which that's the current layout and should be awarded the checkmark.
That's how conceptually it works in Libronix, as well as most word processors. I have my own Bible software, and disaster strikes if the new name isn't assigned to the current view in the system. The user who borders on stupid (me), always forgets.
I suspect they view the process as having a stack of cards on the right side of the layout menu, and simply giving names to the stack of cards. Not naming the actual layout the user is using and therefore not moving the checkmark or the title of the window.

This is one of the gotcha's with Active Layout. It expects you to keep track of layout changes and the relationship to the "Active" name i.e. in this case you have to "load" the newly named layout to make it active. Other cases are more prone to error.
Now if I started reading on my new layout I would be in the old one and when I quit I would lose all I did.
When you exit Logos it is saved as "Application Closed" along with others of the same name. Depending on your Settings (below) it could be loaded on restart, but with the wrong name.

I love the Mobile Download Management feature!
It could be enhanced a bit. Here are a couple of suggestions:
Thanks.
