Is there a way to display Logos on a 2nd LCD screen, and use other programs on the notebook screen at the same time?
Or can anyone explain using a second display other than just for a larger screen.

Not sure what your question is, since Logos works quite well on a 2nd screen (or the first screen), and works as other programs do in this regard.
You may be asking about how to set up a 2nd screen that doesn't simply 'echo' the first screen, if so, that's a Windows display setting (consult your particular computer, OS and video interface for help, as this varies somewhat).
Full screen mode will occupy only one screen, but you can stretch a program to cover more than one screen in non-full screen mode.
Hi Lee, First step is stop the monitors fighting (dueling) Sorry, that particular typo amused me this morning.
What you are asking for is handled by the computer itself and the Logos software is quite happy to display on whatever screen you put it on. For instance I have four screens hooked to my laptop (when I am in my office) and Logos works just fine with it.
You can even have different Logos windows open simultaneously (you open in floating panel - by right clicking on the tab - or press Ctrl-F11)
Hello Richard
Thanks, what I was trying to say is I want to use Logos on the larger display, and maybe have MS Word or E-mail displayed on the second screen.
Kind of like having an expanded screen.
BUt no that I think more about this it is maybe a windows issue or maybe not possible.
Does this help? http://www.microsoft.com/athome/organization/twomonitors.aspx

This is how I have it set up with my dual (not duel ;-) monitors. Logos is on monitor 1 and Word (and Firefox) on monitor 2. It may be a Windows display issue for you. Try Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution > Multiple Displays (this is for Win7, other OS will vary). Might take a little playing around to get it to work as you want. It will be worth it.
Ok I got it done, I just needed to set my display to Extend these displays..
It's 10:44pm here so almost sleep time.
Thanks All for the fast response.
That's great that you got it to work. I'm wondering how many others use Logos with two or more monitors and how you maximize efficiency this way.
I'm wondering how many others use Logos with two or more monitors and how you maximize efficiency this way.
I like putting open text on one screen and doing my block diagram on the other screen.
My setup is that I have two laptops:
Both laptops have Windows 7 64-bit.
This way I get to keep many books that I have returned.
Tomorrow I'm returning a bunch of books, $575.75, then I'm calling Tuesday to negotiate again about a "customized" price. The first negotiation failed.
I'm thinking of getting a third laptop in addition to these, years from now. It would be for books worth $510.75 plus any future purchases starting from March 16. 2013. On that I would have Logos 4 and 2 GB RAM to minimize the hardware cost:
I have dual monitors set up. I don't have MS Word (or any other word processor or One Note) or Outlook maximized, but minimized unless I'm working in them. Both monitors are 24 inch LG's. It's great to have two or more monitors especially when I'm are doing any kind of study that involves maps or time lines.
mm.
Seriously? And this does not seem even a bit unethical to you?
Good question. Jack!

Maybe I'm missing something but I can hardly believe your post Unix. I agree with Jack and would like to hear your response. Could you please explain?

My setup is that I have two laptops: Samsung. 83 GB formatted SSD, external 250 GB HDD 7200 rpm. 4 GB RAM. Core2Duo 1.3GHz. 1366*768 pixel 11.9" monitor . On this I have books purchased until early Feb. 2013 including Göttingen Septuagint that I returned on March 6. 2013 8 months old HP. HDD. 2 GB RAM, expandable to 8 GB. 1366*768 pixel 15.6" monitor. DVD. MS Word 2010. On this I have additional books books for $731.09 purchased Feb.-March 2013. Plus all books purchased until Nov. 2012, plus ICC -commentaries. I see Jack (and others) asked this question already, and in a more appropriate way. I always prefer to give the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps this is simply a cross cultural communication issue.
The porn thing... That seemed to be an issue with his image host more than you are allowing for Schezic. I always prefer to give the benefit of the doubt.

I certainly hope so. There is a post from Bob floating around somewhere RE people stealing books through the use of torrents and so forth. IIRC He has a healthy approach - if someone needs bibles enough to steal them, then so be it. Perhaps an MVP could find it? I saw it linked on the files forum once upon a time if that helps.

Apologies: tried searching, but did not find relevant reply.

Arrgghhh! I hate this topic. :-) We have lots of heated discussions about this internally. Every other week we get the desperate-to-be-legal-and-ethical user who calls to confirm that they can install the software on their desktop and notebook computer. The other weeks we hear about the every-loophole-finding user who wants to parse our latest statement on the EULA to let them install the software on every machine they see, and to charge people for the service. I am not going to answer all your questions. Ever. I don't want to. I don't want a clean-cut policy, because it just annoys the honest user who has a legitimate situation while doing nothing to stop the person who justifies-to-themselves whatever behavior they want.

I found it here. It was apparently a blog he'd posted... here is the relevant part (not sure how to put it in quotes?)"
In this week’s mail I received an envelope from a professor, obtained from one of his students. It contained a home-made DVD-ROM and instructions on installing a pirated version of our software. Step 2 in the detailed instructions installs the stolen licenses. Step 5 encourages the thief to “Study to shew thyself approved ;-) (2tim 3:15)”.
It is always disappointing to see such deliberate piracy. But years ago we decided that we weren’t going to get too upset about it.
Because if you want to steal the Bible, we want you to have it.
Because if you read it, and apply it, and let it change your life, you might write a letter like the one I found in the same stack of mail:
The writer confessed to having purchased and returned a copy of Logos Bible Software v1.6 in order to use the sales receipt for a discount on upgrading to Logos Bible Software v2.0. Back in 1995.
And now, 11 years later, he feels convicted about his dishonesty, confessing it as part of an old life style of stealing, shop-lifting, etc. He enclosed a check for the value of the returned software, plus interest, and asked for our forgiveness and blessing."
I certainly hope so.
Expectation based on Evidence........ If you have obtained sufficient evidence to support your expectations, Then you have earned the right to "Hope" more than I do.
Perhaps then a better term to use is that I have faith, that if indeed Unix has been regenerated by God through the Lord Jesus Christ's sacrifice upon the cross, and if indeed he has confessed and believed in accordance with Romans 10:9, and I have no reason to doubt that he has not. Then based upon that, I can hope that either this is a misunderstanding, and not an intentional attempt at fraud .

I am sorry to see the above, to me it looks like clear case of fraud. It also looks as if he plans to continue this.
I would hope that Logos would see the post from Unix and use his stated intent and not negotiate other sales. Because he intend to copy and then return them.
No, if I get a discount I don't return them. It's been difficult to find good reps. I don't have time to write more, I have 2 tests this week and 1 test next week:

What do you do when you believe you don't get a good discount? Perhaps that may be our concern.
I don't know exactly what I will do. This post is about computers. I haven't yet bought the computer #2 in my post. I contacted the seller of it yesterday and she seemed to want to sell it to me. I wanted her to confirm that the Word 2010 in it is paid for (new computers are sold with the Starter Edition) and haven't heard from her since. I contacted another seller of an older computer with much worse battery and MS Word 2007. I haven't yet checked whether making .docx with Word 2007 is possible, if not I won't buy it, plus I won't buy it if the monitor resolution is no good or I can't get a lower price.

This seems like a great response to me. I've said the same thing about leaving my Bible sitting out in the library.
The customer service gets paid to do their job. They should do a better job. My entire phone call to the customer service was about getting a discount. He said he would look what he can do. I was in a hurry to my evening class, so I didn't have time to do an exact calculation how much discount he was giving me. He left out one item which I had specified (I thought he had included it since he said so, so I thought I was getting a discount). He charged $4 too much for one item. And he charged the regular price for everything. So of course I'm returning the books today and start negotiating perhaps with someone else, just like any Logos customer would do:
The way I understand your original post I would say your methods are unethical and equates to stealing.
Unix is clearly stealing. Look at what he says:
Computer 1) “On this I have books purchased until early Feb. 2013 including Göttingen Septuagint that I returned on March 6. 2013”
So he still has the Göttingen Septuagint on this computer which he says he returned that product on March 6th 2013.
Computer 2) “On this I have additional books books for $731.09 purchased Feb.-March 2013. Plus all books purchased until Nov. 2012, plus ICC -commentaries. And of course Göttingen Septuagint that I returned on March 6. 2013.”
So again he has different books on the second computer. All books he purchased up till November 2012 and a few others plus as he says again the Göttingen Septuagint that he clearly says he returned.
Then he say this just to make sure we get the picture “This way I get to keep many books that I have returned”.
Then he goes on to say he’s returning some more book in hopes that he gets a better deal but from what he has already said it seems clear that if he doesn’t get a good price he will simply return and try to keep the books anyways.
The one statement that makes it all clear even with the hard to read writing style is this “This way I get to keep many books that I have returned”.
I don’t think there can be any doubt that this user is stealing. Unix may want to try and retract what was said but I can’t think of how “This way I get to keep many books that I have returned” makes any other sense.
I'm with Jack here. Hey Unix: Accountability is a wonderful thing to have. Thus, please help us understand your posts came across poorly or, be thankful for brothers that hold you accountable and return the things that no longer belong to you. Knowledge gained by wrongful means is wrongful knowledge. If you are scamming-Stop it.
Grace and Peace,

I too agree. Personally I'm hoping that there is some sort of "language barrier" thing going on that is preventing us from clearly understanding what Unix was trying to say but, as things stand now, I can't read it any other way than was expressed by others.
Back to the topic as listed: I would personally like to see some Logos set-ups with multiple monitors.
I currently use Logos on a macbook with one external 23inch monitor.
Questions:
1. How do you setup with more than one external monitor?
2. How do you use Logos with multiple Monitors?
3. Would love to see some sample layouts.
4. Is there a way to "move panels" around within the layouts? ( I'm having trouble with this aspect in general).
Thank you.
( P.S. should I start a new thread? )

It may be better to begin a new thread since this one has digressed so much but the title on this thread perfectly matches your questions.
Let me try to give some input here. I regularly use two monitors or else just my laptop depending on the situation.
I'm not that familiar with the Mac world but the use of multiple monitors is already a feature of windows and is fairly easy to set up.
I would love to see some sample layouts for use on multiple monitors to get some ideas of how best to maximize my study. Right now I don't have any standard format that I use for multiple monitors as I just use the standard layouts that I have created for Logos layouts and open up tabs in new windows and drag them over to the second monitor.
You asked about moving panels around in layouts and for sure this is an option in Logos now. I regularly do this.
Will start new thread.
Yes, multiple monitors is easy on a Mac, I use one external, no problem.
Interested in how others are using multiples.

True this is; but can we really question another's ethics, I have read of worse on this forum..
R4m.
Apparently some don't realize Logos staff reads these threads.
The only things questioned were his own statements and yes, we are required to do so. It is never love or compassion to leave a brother in his error rather than hold him accountable and turn him back from sin if he indeed is being sinful.
I do.
Tommy, I would alert someone to take a look at Unix's account if I were Logos.
Quite frankly it baffles me. I continue to hope that it is not as it appears.

Unix is clearly stealing. HHHMMMmmm~~~
I think that many of you mis-understand what is going on:
First as Bob stated that are ways to bypass the securities, second it is probably as he states.
Yet who here can prove that it is theft? -Anyone?
Let's presume that he does have the resources and that he did "return them", as long as the second computer does not have internet access and auto-update on - wellllllll....technically he does still have them.
So was that a crime of pilferring? Maybe he considers them the booty and spoils of his efforts, only he knows. Who are we to judge his actions?, tho we can and do question the ethical liability that he, and he alone, must answer for.
Also, there is a licensing issue: if he did infact "return" them, then there is a bodacious update awaiting that specific computer. True, his statement reeks of a brazen disregard and slaps many of us in the frontal lobe....but remember it is the Spirit that convicts - not man.
So lets just sit back and let Logos HQ do what they do...."to everything there is a season..."
thats my take....
So this is what has been going on in this thread? I thought there were all these great posts about an issue that I am not able to participate in (at present).
So, "Unix living in larceny" let the cat out of the bag, eh? Granted, it was a bit of a jolt to read a statement that is so "out there", but my first reaction was to laugh. While any premeditation to amass numerous unpaid for books would be unethical, I'm not sure that the Forum SWAT team is necessarily in order. I think a firm reprimand is sufficient. Logos obviously will do what they will. Let's not forget he's a kid. The generation he is in has grown up with issues of digital information "freedom" and sometimes it just takes being introduced to the other side of the issue to get the point across.
Also, where has the "public library" gone in this age? Just something to consider--we don't have to beat that horse into glue here.
