Faithlife Marketing - No Bibles Available in Free Logos engine
I'm a youth pastor. I'm currently promoting and using Faithlife with my HS and College students. Most of the students will probably never progress past using Faithlife as an app on their phone/iPad or within a web browser (at Biblia.com or Faithlife.com)... but I have a few students that I think will eventually want to purchase a package from Logos and start using the Logos program on their computer/phone/iPad. Currently, a Faithlife user can download the free Logos 4 (Windows and IOS) engine and import the Faithlife resources... but there is no Bible available to use within the engine... so it is really useless.
I understand that there are licensing issues for Bibles so it would be difficult to include standard Bibles within a free engine, but Logos already has their own Bible (Lexham English Bible). I would suggest, for marketing purposes, that Logos make The Lexham English Bible available within the free Logos 4 engine... so people can at least get their feet wet and see if they like the added features that the engine offers over the simplified Faithlife app.
I'm a huge supporter of Logos. I'm trying to get the next generation to buy into the concept of studying the Bible electronically... and for the 4 or 5 students in my group that should really move past the Faithlife app to the full program... it would be nice to have a Bible they could use to get the feel of what the full program can do.

The Lexham English Bible is available for free from the Logos website
Your students would need an account - with a credit card associated with it - but obtaining the LEB would be a "no-cost purchase"
Does this help?

That's good to know... but most of my HS and College students don't have credit cards... and asking them to get their parents cards and sign up on the web site... probably too many steps. It was hard enough to have them sign up for (a free) Faithlife account... and figure out how to add the Faithlife resources.
Seems like Logos could just make the Lexham English Bible a standard resource available within the free engine with a standard Faithlife subscription... (i.e. not having to register a credit card).
Thanks for the help.

Gregory ... your questions/points are all VERY GOOD. (And probably Graham also agrees, but is looking for a quick solution.)
This seems like a good suggestion, if FaithLife is to be the success that if can be.

Hi Gregory,
Thank you for this suggestion. We really appreciate your feedback. I also wanted to let you know for a limited time (April 8th) anyone who downloads the FSB or opens up their app will automatically own the NIV! You can find out more details here - www.faithlifebible.com/niv

Hi Joel - and welcome to the forums.
I had forgotten the NIV promotion.
Can I just confirm that having downloaded it to the faithlife app it will then be available, to the same account, in L5?
Thanks, Graham

I've just tried following the latest marketing email from Logos, concerning the Faithlife NIV offer (ending April 8th). I already downloaded Faith Life long ago and regularly use the App on my Android. So by following the instructions in messages above/in the marketing, i should now own the NIV!
It's true that i can open the NIV, but only if i'm online, but if i'm not online (which is most of the time) i can't navigate it, keep it as my preferred Bible or download the NIV it to my phone. If fact if i'm offline i can't change back to another translation and i'm stuck without a translation at all! The 'Download' option on the NIV Bible is disabled when trying to download it because the system says i don't own it in Logos!
So it seems strange to say it's free, when all i'm able to do is access it when online!
Thoughts anyone?

Can those of us who normally use Faithlife via Logos 5 get this promotion? I have 84 and TNIV, but no 11 on my PC.
I did see it (and NIrV) are available to my Faithlife.biblia account, but wonder if I can have it off-line as well.

Peace to all! *smile* I think that we can ............. Just now went to the kitchen and placed my iPad2 on "airplane mode." I can STILL access NIV 2011! (am so glad since I didn't feel like removing the app and then downloading all over again! *smile* ) .... and, of course(!), I have the full interlinear features on my Logos 5 desktop (windows).Ken McGuire said:Can those of us who normally use Faithlife via Logos 5 get this promotion? @Ken: probably the easiest way for you to get the NIV unlocked as part of this promotion is to sign into faithlife.com (if you are already signed in, make sure to sign out and then back in). That should automatically unlock it for you.

That worked. Thanks!

Hey, I too could not access the NIV offline, so I went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Now I don;t even have the NIV online. It completely disappeared.

Hi Jim - and welcome to the forums
I believe the NIV promotion expired yesterday and wonder whether this is related to what you are experiencing.
Maybe, the issues discussed here resulted in the fact that you had tried to access the NIV not being noted in the system and hence it is no longer visible.
Would need Logos to comment on this one.

Jim: I'm afraid there is a bit of a backup getting the NIV unlocked for our existing users who accessed the FSB app during the time of the promotion but the NIV will be available to everyone who did so by the end of today. I'll post here again once the process is complete. My apologies for the delay!

Everyone who accessed the FSB app during the promotion should now have the NIV2011 unlocked for them and accessible from the app, including the ability to download it. If that still isn't the case for anyone please let me know and I'll be sure to investigate further.

Hi
I downloaded the Faithlife Bible and was enjoying using the NIV, but today I looked and it had disappeared! I unloaded and reloaded the app a couple of times but it's still not there. Can you help? Thank you.

Hi Antonia! Welcome to the forums. [:)]
The NIV is a paid resource. There was a limited window where the publisher made it available for free. If you followed the instructions during that limited time, the license should have been added to your account. Did you do that? If so, did you use the same email and password to sign in when you reinstalled? (Why did you reinstall?)
Edit: I just re-read your post. Did you look for the NIV in the library? If so, was the library filtered in any way? Was there any letters in the search box?

Also - sorry - the same thing happened on a friend's iPhone, although he hasn't reinstalled the app. The NIV has gone (when you open the app, it says something like, 'Unable to open this book'.

[:D] For future reference… deleting the app shouldn't have any bearing on which resources are in your library (accessed from the cloud). Killing the app and doing a full shut down of the device would be a better thing to try. There are reasons, however, when you might need to do a "fresh install."

The only thing else I can think of, which doesn't appear to be the case (but check anyway), is the possibility that you are running offline. Are you in airplane mode?

The best thing might be for both of you to contact Logos. There may be an account/license issue rather than a software one.

I will! Thank you very much for your help.

Hi - I finally got around to trying to figure out why I could only access the NIV online and why it completely disappeared. It looks like you were unlocking for people so we could get it back and download it. Is that true? If so, can you do that for me? Thanks!

I also have lost the NIV that was there during the promotion. Can you unlock it for me as well? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums 122291! [:P] (Sorry, there is a forum bug, and your username is currently unavailable). [:S]

Your best bet might be to contact Logos directly… although I will see if I can get in touch with someone for you as well. If you don't hear anything by monday, I would try contacting logos by phone. NOTE: For you to be eligible for the NIV, you will need to have been a user before the deadline past in early April. Was that the case for you?
EDIT: Welcome Marty! (Your name finally showed). [:)]
