It should probably be "Hindu". But it's like that in the original book (I checked Amazon), so you'd have to take it up with the book's authors.

I think "Hindi" is the adjective form, "Hindu" the noun. Also, I think Hindi is similar to "Jewish" in that it describes both a language and a religion.

basic rule of thumb for nouns: hindu refers to adherent of religion; native of geographic area; hindi refers to language
