I need to use a DVD for evangelism training. Is there a way to rip onto the hard drive and use it from there. Or can I play from a DVD?
There are many applications that will allow you to rip DVD video to a format that Proclaim can read. I haven't used any of these so I cannot really recommend any specifically.
Proclaim does not read DVD video directly, yet. That is a planned enhancement for a future update.

http://handbrake.fr/details.php is great (and free).
I actually wrote an article about how to rip videos with Handbrake to be played on the iPad. The file that is produced can be used on Proclaim as well...just don't import the file to iTunes, simply upload to Proclaim. Hope it helps you!

This one feature is keeping customers away. I've often told people about proclaim, but when I warn them that it doesn't play DVDs, a bare minimum feature for most users, they choose my second choice, which I won't name.

What would be the best "output" if I wanted to rip from a DVD and use in Proclaim?

Joshua, your tutorial looks VERY easy to follow (although I am a PC guy so the screenshots will be a little different). You mention in step 5 that Handbrake automatically scans for the longest file. I have some teaching DVDs done by Zondervan (e.g. The Network, Just Walk Across the Room, The Jesus I Never Knew, etc) that I would like to rip to my tablet. What suggestions do you have when there are several files (teaching segments) on one DVD that you want to rip individually?
