Using Proclaim without an internet connection

Our Church does not have a wifi or other internet connection. We cannot use the remote function with the iPad therefore.

If the PC isn't connected to the internet and the Proclaim programme is closed between saving the service presentation at home and arriving at the Church is there any means to open the presentation up again locally or is an internet connection mandatory? I haven't been able to open the programme without a connection and can't see any function enabling me to save it on the local hard drive.

Assuming the presentation was successfuly synchronised with the Internet copy at home then you should be able to open it from the cached copy (this is created automatically) when you get to church.

What happens when you try?

Thanks for your reply Graham. If the programme is already open on the PC, it works (except last time when I tested it, the programme crashed). However, if I close the programme and then try to open it up again at the Church it won't work as it tries to connect to the internet. Is there not a local hard drive version available?

I've just tried this by closing Proclaim and disconnecting my Internet connection.

I was then able to start Proclaim and open any of the presentations which I had previously created. There were a few messages about not being able to access online information but they didn't stop the program working or the presentations being accessed.

Is there not a local hard drive version available?

There is only one version of the software but it does cache presentations to the local drive so should work under these conditions.

Can you post a screenshot showing what happens when you try?

When I try it I get

(I don't actually have an on-air licence - I was involved in the early testing of Proclaim - so I will get different information to you)

But, as you can see, there is a message about a failure to retrieve "on-air products" but if I press the "Later" button I get through to the main Proclaim screen and get open presentations and present them.

If you can get screenshots to upload it would be good to see where you are able to get to.

Thanks for that - this is strange, I wouldn't have expected that at all.

Hopefully someone from Logos can comment.

In the meantime, you should have a folder under "My Documents" called "Proclaim Log Files".

Please try and connect again when offline and then upload logs from that folder - that might help pin down what is going on here.

Did you sign out after the last time you used Proclaim? If you sign out, you will need an internet connection to log back in. Instead of signing out you can just close Proclaim and the next time you open it you will be logged in, connection or not.
