Is Vyrso able to match this offer?
Doubtfully. It looks to be a lost leader by Amazon, rather than a publisher offer. The book isn't on sale elsewhere… so you might want to grab it quick.
Thanks Alabama - I thought it might have been a publisher offer. Thanks for the clarification.
I'm not sure if its a loss leader, its free on iBooks as well.
Oh yeah. I thought that I picked it up recently, but thought I was mistaken when I checked Kindle & Vyrso. I guess that means it is the SECOND book I own in iBooks. [;)]
It may eventually be extended to Vyrso… but so far it is a no go for Nook & CBD. The publisher doesn't have to extend the offer to everyone… and sometimes they don't.

I may be mistaken, but this is exactly what so many companies (including Penguin, Simon & Schuster, Apple and many others) got into hot water and lost a major lawsuit for conspiring to fix prices on ebooks.
Where do I stand? books are a commodity. you can get he SAME content from over a dozen places now. Let each platform get individual prices from the publishers and let them compete in the open marketplace. Logos/Vyso are in a tough spot. Just like a gas station HAS to carry certain items/brands, Vyrso HAS to carry certain books/authors/publishers to stay viable. The difference is: do they want to be an overpriced gas-station (or even a truck stop) or a value hypermarket for all things Christian literature?
I'm not sure I understand your point. Before all the hoopla, Amazon was putting everyone out of business. It appears we may be heading in that direction again. I'd prefer to have my resources in Vyrso.

I'd prefer to have my resources in Vyrso
so would I. Here is the test. Imagine you go to the grocery store. There are 2 nearly identical jugs of milk. one for $3 another for $12. Tell me you would buy the $12 milk just because it is from a company you like? a (Vyrso) book is a book is a book
toughski - I am not going to continue to argue this... Logos can't compete with Amazon on price. Here is what I mean:

Nope. I wouldn't. There was a commentary set on Amazon a few months ago that was Under $3. It is about $50 in Logos. I purchased it on Amazon, and stuck them with the loss. It is rare that I would purchase a book like that on Amazon, however, because those kinds of books are much more beneficial in the LOGOS format. Other books, which are in the VYRSO format, it is easy to make a similar quality using the personal book builder.
toughski - I am not going to continue to argue this... Logos can't compete with Amazon on price. Here is what I mean: I am not saying that Amazon will always be cheaper. It won't, and sometimes Vyrso is in actuality cheaper. For most titles, Vyrso will be similarly priced, with Amazon being perhaps slightly cheaper. For some titles, publishers will extend special offers to all vendors... Vyrso will match. For some titles, publishers will extend special offers to only a few vendors... Vyrso wont match. For some titles, Amazon will use the "loss leader," that is to say, they will lose money on one resource to benefit them in other areas (i.e. gain in market share; purchase of hardware; create loyalty and drive sales for other books). Logos can't really compete on that level. Sometimes Logos DOES do "loss leaders"... see the "free book of the month." Those, however, are typically public domain works. Logos isn't paying a publisher $8 to give you the book for free. Amazon DOES do that. They have also put out of business a number of stores, including Borders, and possibly Barnes & Noble (who is sucking wind).
Alabama, please forgive me. I am not trying to argue, but unless Vyrso finds a way to compete with Amazon (on price or otherwise) I see the writing on the wall for them already.
Here is how Vyrso can improve their value or add value:
Alabama, please forgive me. I am not trying to argue
No problem. We are both passionate... we also agree on many things. [:)]
I would prefer everything in the same library
Me too.
I would love if all scriptures were adequately tagged in Vyrso
The system is automated. If Logos has to do any manual tagging, the resource would need to be a "Logos Edition"... meaning more expensive.
I would pay extra for the ability to 1-click export a Vyrso/Logos title to Kindle
Hopefully it comes soon(ish). You have been following the thread in the general forum, right?
ability to loan Vyrso/Logos titles to others, ideally unlimited times
I dont see that happening anytime soon. Kindle is the only one I know doing that, but there are heavy restrictions:
pricematch Vyrso with competitor sales
I don't see this happening as a broad policy, and is less likely with the Justice Department ruling. The system in place previously was the "agency" model. The PUBLISHER set the price (or at least gave great guidance to it), and sold the resources to every reseller for the same amount. This allowed Logos/Vyrso to do a better job of competing. With the new model, the publishers will sell the volumes to different resellers at varying amounts. Amazon is likely to get better rates than Logos/Vyrso due to volume and "most favored" status.
On a micro level, however, some users have been successful at lobbying for a particular sale/resource. It's worth a try. [:)]
[When I see "can you match this" threads, I often reiterate what I have said previously here in this thread. I wouldn't want users to miss out on the "special deal" they found. For me, that may look like the $50 book for $2.79... for others it may be saving .50! [:)]]
