Seach Logos.com and vyrso.com simultaneously
Does anyone else find themselves constantly searching Logos and Vyrso for a resource? Has anyone come up with a way to search both sites at once? I get that they tend to be different types of books and most of the time it's fairly easy to tell which site a book would likely be on, but when it's not on the expected site I still find myself searching the other in hopes that it's there.

Yep.

The best option right now is copy & paste into two tabs. Ugh. [:S]

To be honest (not normally being in that state), I had not thought of searching Vyrso. Vyrso doesn't work with my Kindle. Usually when Logos draws a blank, I click on the Amazon search.

I'm confused... I can't tell if you're telling a joke and unusually failing, or if you are unusually being serious. [:)]
Are you talking about an eInk Kindle reader, or the Kindle Fire? Vyrso resources will work with any of the Logos apps. (No, not the Libronix ones... that company is out of business). Vyrso resources just get added to your Logos/Vyrso/Noet library.

Last week someone from Logos confirmed that he was going to talk to the powers that be about the possibility of adding a search feature to search Logos and Vyrso at the same time. Many of us would greatly appreciate this.

We are working on a solution for featured search results from Logos within the Vyrso search results. We'd mainly highlight a few products that fit the search paradigm. We'll let you know when we are closer to launching the feature!

Alabama .. I was just illustrating that Logos positions Vyrso as a reader ... my reader (Kindle) doesn't read Vyrso. Ipso Amazon.
And Brian confirms my thinking ... they don't want me to accidentally find Vyrso books. I'm sure there's a good reason. Just like they purposely hide Libronix books, the competition is so overwhelming!

Brian, make sure to reciprocate (is this a word?) this, i.e. bring results from Vyrso to the Logos search results.
Just last week I bought a resource in ePub format from another site "by accident" - I had searched Logos and found only another resource by this author, and either I forgot to check Vyrso (which happens, even if only rarely) or I did something wrong - I came to think that you don't carry the work and went elsewhere. I definitely would have preferred the Vyrso edition which I learned about later.
You probably have usage statistics for those two sites, but I guess that probably many who check Logos won't even know about Vyrso or don't care looking there, somehow mistakenly believing it's all about "Amish Romances" or so.

It is possible to use google to search both sites simultaneously. Just type your search term into a google search followed by "site:vyrso.com/product/ OR site:logos.com/product/" (minus the quotes). I have that portion in Textexpander as a snippet so I don't have to type it every time.

Thanks for this! This seems to work quite well as a workaround, while lacking much of Logos'/Vyrso's comfort in restricting searches to authors etc.
Actually, I had thought along the same lines before I posted, however since I didn't direct google searches to more than one site before, I tested it with a search string like site:vyrso.com/product/ OR site:logos.com/product/ schaeffer , since I know that Francis Schaeffer has books published on both platform. However, when I saw no hit for "The Complete Works of Francis Schaeffer" (one of my oldest Logos resources) from Logos.com on the first or second page, I thought this search might be somehow unreliable... On further looking, it shows that Google is right and I'm wrong, since this resource is no longer sold at Logos.com [:(]

That is a helpful workaround! Thanks! It returns the results in Google rather than the prettier Logos search page (with images, prices, and awareness of my current library) but it solves the problem nicely while we wait for a solution from Logos. Given that they are only going to product some suggested results rather than full results I'm think that this actually might be more than just a short term solution for me.

If you have your browser set to open new windows in a tab then this (saved as a bookmark) will open a tab each for Logos & Vyrso for the given search phrase:
javascript:void(q=prompt('Logos/Vyrso Multi-Search:',getSelection()));if(q) { javascript:window.open('http://vyrso.com/products/search?q=' + escape(q) + '&unlocked=no'); void(location.href='http://logos.com/products/search?q=' + escape(q) + '&unlocked=no') }
EDIT: I misstated. It won't open two tabs. It will replace the current tab with Logos search and open another tab for Vyrso.

Thanks Brian. That would be useful.
But the reverse would be useful too.
For example, if I search on Logos.com for Michael Bird, it would be good to know that Vyrso has his book, Are You the One Who Is to Come? the Historical Jesus and the Messianic Question (Grand Rapids, MI: Baker, 2009).

or at least, it would have been good to know that Vyrso carried it prior to its removal from Vyrso and lock-up in one of Logos' The Expensive Baker Boys bundles...
currently Vyrso only has "Bourgeois Babes" - a nice contribution to the gender complementarism debate which I (unfortunately) own in a kindle version - I found out too late that Vyrso carries it (even for less than I paid at German Amazon [:'(] )

Thanks NB! (Although I'll probably buy this one on JungleRiver.com; I try to keep my theology out of my Logos, you know.)
