BUG: Email Lists - Logos won't save my subscriptions

Okay, I've been trying to do this for a couple of months (!) now, actually. Everytime I subscribe to some Email Lists, Logos will first save the selection. But after logging out and in again, the selection has gone to some kind of default - just not the selection I have made. In other words: I can't get Logos.com to save my selection of Email Lists.

And one more thing that seems to be a bug: When selecting "Unsubscribe", the description states "We hate to see you go, but if you want to stop receiving promotional emails, check this option and press update." Thing is - there is no "Update"-button.

I just noticed this, yes - I subscribed to all lists yesterday, so there still seems to be a bug. I only use Google Chrome, I'll try it with another browser. Thank you for looking into this!

Okay, there's definitely something wrong here. I just selected all Email List boxes (I tried it with both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome), then went to another page, reloaded the Email Lists page - all boxes still selected. After waiting for a couple of minutes, the same procedure leads to only two boxes selected as a result.

Bump. Still can't subscribe to Email Lists - whether I try it with Chrome, IE or Firefox, Logos will set back my selection to some random lists. Please fix this.

Hi Theolobias,

I'm sorry the email list is giving you such problems. I can see that you're currently subscribed to 3 lists, but given some other logging I see that you've tried to subscribe to several others. It says you're subscribed to them in one place but not the other. So there definitely is a problem somewhere that I've yet to reproduce.

Regardless, I was wondering if you could let me know what steps you might be doing differently from me because I cannot reproduce the issue myself. Though I suspect that you're probably not doing anything much different than how I am.

If you prefer you can send me an email, it's on my faithlife profile, or I can send you an email if you are ok with that. Also, if you send me the list of how you want to be signed up I can at least get you into the state you want it until we figure out what's going on.

Again sorry, I thought we had fixed this already, but obviously there's some other bug going on here.

Well, there really isn't that much I can tell you - I tried to check all boxes in several browsers (Chrome, IE, Firefox). No problems at first - they are checked for some minutes, even when I reload the page or change to some other Logos pages and then return to the Email Lists page. But after a couple of minutes, most boxes are unchechecked again with some random choice being checked. Same result in all browsers, no change with browser-cookies and history deleted.

One more thing I noticed: I always check "Email me replies to this post" when I'm writing on the forums - but I won't receive any Emails. I have to look it up manually whether there are new replies. Maybe there's a connection between these to issues, since they both have to do with may Email-adress ...?

The issue still hasn't been solved. It's been three months now since I first reported the bug, which has existed even longer than that. Please forgive me, but I just have to say this: I'm really, really, really angry that Logos just doesn't seem to be able to fix things like these. How hard can it be to get a simple e-mail-subscription-feature to work??? Come on!!! That's just sloppy, sloppy, sloppy - and once more makes me want to give companies like Oak Tree Software a real chance.

I sincerely apologize for the problems you're having with changing your subscriptions. I have reopened the case as I closed it after the developer fixed what appeared to be the problem as I was no longer able to reproduce the issue. I won't let the case close until this issue is resolved for you.

That's exactly why it's so important that you report back when you believe you've fixed something, so that we can tell you if you truly have.

Hi Tobias,

I think we figured out the issues with your account and why you couldn't subscribe to the lists you mentioned you wanted subscribed to. Your account should now be in a state where you can subscribe and unsubscribe to lists just fine.

If you could please verify that your subscriptions are as you intended that would be great.

PS. The long boring details.

Some old previous code had put your subscriptions into an incorrect state and the newer UI would not allow you to undo that state. We're going to keep this case open so that we update the code to allow it to handle this incorrect state in the future.

And this is also the reason why I couldn't reproduce the issue that you were seeing until you said it was ok for me to modify your subscriptions. All new accounts are using new code that should no longer allow it to get into this incorrect state.
