Following presentations - recommendation

We just spent a good hour banging our heads against the wall doing some testing trying to figure out how to follow a presentation. I was using both the Logos and Faithlife apps in Android. We had the presentation on air, signals set and selected, location set, presentation groups joined, etc but never saw the presentation nor any prompts.

Finally, I clicked into the bible instead of the home page and "tada" the signals are there.

Why on earth doesn't it show the presentation from the home screen? I guarantee most people who download the app as recommended from a pre-service slide would launch it and it would sit there and they'd just be waiting for something to happen and eventually give up.

PLEASE change this behavior and show available/active presentations on the Home Pages of these apps.

Hello Russell,

If you go into the menu on the Logos bible app, you should see 'Presentations' under the tools menu. Select that and then make sure 'Follow Presentations' is set to 'on'. Also make sure 'Ask to follow nearby presentations' is set to 'on'. With both of these settings set, you will be prompted to follow an on-air presentation while you are in the home screen of the app.

Both of these settings are on and I am never prompted to join. However, if I launch the bible reading area, then within that I do see the signals.

Russel is correct. Once you've opted in to follow presentations for a specific group we don't prompt you again. Therefore if you're not in the reading view you won't see signals or any other notification regarding the new on air presentation. This post has sparked some internal discussion and we're considering making a change to at least notify the user of the new on air presentation when they're not in the reading view.

I'll add that the only reason that I joined a presentation group is because I wasn't getting any prompts without it either, however, I believe that location services were reporting my tablet as being about 5 miles away from where it actually was... so maybe it was too far away to consider the presentation as close by.

Do you know what the location proximity threshold is?

The threshold is 1000 meters.
