Illustrated notes on using Logos

I have compiled a 30-page PDF document on how to use Logos Bible Software. I started it with Logos 4, keeping it updated with each new stage, and then incorporated the new features of Logos 5. It is an easy-to-read document, with plenty of screenshots.

I tried to upload it here but got constant error flags. You can, however, download it freely from my website, www.davidmatthew.org.uk - you will find the link at the foot of the home page.

Please feel free to distribute to anyone who you think might benefit from it. Blessings to all my fellow-Logos users for 2014.

Thank you, David!  A very welcome addition.

Thanks David. That must have taken you a while.

Peace, David!          Wow!               Thank you, and Blessings!            *smile*

I remember you from years ago when you were quite active in the Old Logos Newsgroups and shared a lot of great "stuff" with your fellow Logosians!           *smile*                           I remain grateful from those days!             !!!

At that time you lived in the "All Creatures Great and Small Country" of England; and now I see you've moved to the Artists' Haven in Cornwall!   Penzance!   Again, wow!           *smile*

    Hope you're well and happy!

As a volunteer who has committed himself with the other MVP's (at Logos request!) to helping others, I'm not quite sure how to handle the great and wonderful work you have done here!           *smile*           I'm sure you're quite familiar with http://wiki.logos.com/              !!!

The question for me - and probably a few others - is how best to use your absolutely wonderful material in helping others.  I'm not going to download it today as I ponder the situation.     But, please permit me to say an Immense Thank You for your care and concern and good will!   *smile*

I think for me, a Word Format might be actually more helpful -- if it were available --  that I could edit to maximise my own personal usage of your material -- as I begin to consider the needs of Logos Newbies (?) and others...

....if we copied it to help others, would you require that we always gave you "due credit"???       I suppose not....

David, I need to ponder a few of these issues; and I'm sure others will be also...            Blessings             Kindest Personal Greetings!            *smile*

That was a lot of work and a labor of love for the friends of your favorite Bible study software. Much appreciated. I will send it along to a couple of users I know.

    Thank you, Milford!

Following your suggestion, I've now added the option of a MS Word version for downloading.

And no, I don't want any of the 'due credit' stuff, thanks. This is a service gladly given to help my fellow-soldiers in the Lord.

Peace, David!                   Actually it IS Thank YOU!                 *smile*                        Fantastic!               I DO remember your doing the same thing years and years ago with the superb instructions you prepared on operating Libronix to its fullest extent as part of our daily struggles and endeavours!

I - for one! - David appreciate your terminology!     fellow-soldiers       It's Biblical!         It's Christian!                    We are "fighting the Good Fight," indeed!

We are STILL the Church Militant!                  The time will come when we will be the Church Triumphant!             For Jesus has won the Victory, eh?!  *smile*

The mopping up can be (and is!) very difficult - and bloody - and costly!                   But, we carry on!  Thanks again, David, for our Brief Conversation!              *smile*

Fight the good fight with all thy might; Christ is thy Strength, and Christ thy Right; Lay hold on life, and it shall be Thy joy and crown eternally.

Run the straight race through God’s good grace, Lift up thine eyes, and seek His face; Life with its way before us lies, Christ is the Path, and Christ the Prize.

Cast care aside, upon thy Guide, Lean, and His mercy will provide; Lean, and the trusting soul shall prove Christ is its Life, and Christ its Love.

Faint not nor fear, His arms are near, He changeth not, and thou art dear. Only believe, and thou shalt see That Christ is all in all to thee

    Words:
John S. B. Monsell, Hymns of Love and Praise for the Church’s Year, 1863. This hymn was sung in the Academy Award winning movie, Chariots of Fire (1981).

    Music: Pentecost,
    William Boyd, 1864
(MIDI, score); first published in Thirty-two Hymn Tunes Composed by Members of the University of Oxford, 1868:

Baring-Gould asked me to compose a tune to Come Holy Ghost, Our Souls Inspire, to be sung at a large meeting of Yorkshire colliers. I walked, talked, slept and ate with the words, and at last evolved the tune which I naturally named Pentecost…One day, as I was walking along Regent Street I felt a slap on my back, and turning around saw my dear old friend
Arthur Sullivan. “My dear Billy,” he said, “I’ve seen a tune of yours which I must have.” (He was then editing Church Hymns) “All right,” I said, “Send me a cheque and I agree.” No copy of the book, much less a proof was sent to me, and when I saw the tune I was horrified to find that Sullivan had assigned it to “Fight the good fight!” We had a regular fisticuffs about it, but judging from the favour with which the tune has been received, I feel that Sullivan was right in so mating words and music.

Blessings, David!           *smile*                Your .docx file downloaded perfectly!

I'm thinking about making a PB of it!

I will be recommending your file to others, especially to Newbies; however, there is good "stuff" in there for everyone, eh?!                          *smile*                   Another Thanks!
