Proclaim blog and theology

I'm the youth minister of an church in Bloemfontein, South Africa. We have not been able to start implimenting Proclaim in our church yet due to some practical and financial reasons, but I have been following Proclaims blogs and programs for three years now.

I want to deeply congratulate you on your useful and insightful articles and blogs. I appreciate the theology with which you conduct your programs and the underlying understanding of worship that you work with such as the recent article on an organic worship space which reads: "In worship, we bring glory to God for what he has done—we are only a sign post directing others to Christ. So in talking about stage design, remember this important concept: every object and design must also direct the worshiper to Christ."

I dearly hope that we can have more of a buzz about Proclaim and your contribution towards building better worship experiences in South Africa.

Hi Francois.

Thank you for your post. It is encouraging. The developers must feel a little disappointed that so many of the posts are about things not working properly. As you say the underlying concept is great and the ideas and ethos behind it exemplary.

Financial restrictions are always a problem but I would be interested to hear about the practical obstacles to adoption.

As you say Mike, the financial restrictions are challenging, but we also have trouble using the internet in the church auditorium itself and as Proclaim is cloud based we need to have it going in there to use it. Also not all the role players in our services have the financial or practical resources to access Proclaim easily and regularly. I would dearly love to use it for a couple of reasons such as the division of certain types of slides a.i. pre- service loops etc. Also the interaction with the app on personal devices would be great as we are moving towards a more social media integrated communication approach at church.

This, Frans, is a common misconception. Connection to the internet is only required while preparing the presentation (which can be done away from the Church on for example a lap top. This is what I do each week.

Once the Presentation is complete it can be synced and then taken into a wireless free environment and used to present the service. Obviously those things that require wireless to work won't (signal etc) but the basic system will work just fine.

It sounds like you are going to have to face the internet connection problem soon if you are moving towards a social media environment.
