A church attender has offered to buy a new computer for our booth. What is the best hardware I can get?
RAM, processor, video card, etc?
Thanks
Hello Gregory,
There is an article on the Proclaim website that tells you the minimum hardware requirements for running Proclaim. It should give you an idea of what to look at in terms of hardware. Follow this link and read 'System requirements for Windows':

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
I've been pondering this question ever since you asked it. I'm planning a post for the Proclaim Blog on the subject, but as a preview, here's the machine that I would recommend building if you have the inclination to build a PC yourself.
Here is basically what our guy ended up building. There were a couple of hardware hiccups, but it's flying now. We used it for the first time this week.

we had a good video card already. Don't remember the make, but the model was a Nvidia 6650 type
Nice. That's a great build. You're right, video card is key for a presentation machine.
I'd recommend some kind of warranty or protection plan on the SSD. They're great most of the time, but they do fail from time to time.
Go Mac and you will never go back!
I asked about Mac, and was told by a Logos exec that the latest version of OSX doesn't have a good track record with the latest presentation software.
That, and I like to be able to purchase a computer without taking a lien out on my facility. Details.

Apple is still working on a fix for this [:P]
Our MacBook Pro works like a dream. I had been a devout Windows the first release in the mid 80's.After Windows 8 slithered into the market I tried out the Mac as a last ditch backup for our PC (running Windows 7). The PC locks up all of the time and is a constant headache with security updates and patches. It would take 5 minutes or more to reboot the PC, and a few more minutes before it was ready to restart the service every time it crashed. One Sunday morning, right on schedule, the PC locked up during the pre-service loop as I was trying to move to the first music slide. In desperation I grabbed the Mac and connected the video cable. From cold boot of the Mac to presentation took less than a minute and I have never looked back. We use the PC as a door stop. In my opinion the Mac is worth the price in reduced stress and headaches alone.
