Peace and Joy to my Logos Forums Brothers and Sisters!              *smile*

I can't even remember the last time I used the word "anachronism," but I need it here ...

A few days ago I acquired Warrior Poet: Before David Was King from Vyrso  ....  And!   I'm enjoying it immensely!

It has helped me understand the times of David and Saul and Samuel better, and I am grateful.  It is historical fiction, and I grant the author the usual liberties   ...    of course ...    *smile*

It's particularly good when it comes to the Psalms of Praise of David and ancient Israel ..

My problem with the book is that -- twice -- when the author describes someone cooking, the author puts tomatoes -- of all things! -- into the ingredients...   Tomatoes come from South American and didn't even make Italy until the mid-1500's           *smile*

Absolutely impossible!             But, don't stay away from the book because of that!  It has a lot of good features.                Lots and Lots of good features.

So, I'm wondering, Dear Vyrso People of Logos, ....    could you send a note to the publisher or the author to "clean up" the text slightly for future editions so future readers can concentrate on the concepts rather than anachronisms, eh???       !!!

Warrior Poet: Before David Was King

by Timothy J. Stoner

$4.38 CAD (3.99 USD)* $7.68 CAD

Overview

We know David as a notorious lover, murderer, military leader, and poet whose music left an indelible mark on the world that continues to this day. But what we do not know, and this book unveils, are the hidden influences that branded this conflicted young prodigy and fixed the trajectory of his turbulent life. Warrior Poet tells the untold story of a young man struggling with prodigious gifts and crushing weaknesses.

This story of a real and complex man will encourage all of us not to allow our falls and failures to define us.

I don't think Logos should or would send a note to the publisher... but you could. [:)]

'Does a rush wise without mire?' (YLT)  That's reverse anachronizing and only a century ago.  I wouldn't even attempt to get this one past a Japanese today.  Wakarimasen!

Peace, Denise!                Incredible!                  The English Language must be one of the most difficult for someone to learn...      *smile*

The KJV is quite similar as Young's!                                  Thanks for posting!              Very refreshing indeed!          *smile*

I cannot even find a dictionary online or within my Logos that can define wise as "grow," but I do remember that now and it IS a valid translation     ........                even though it stuns us  ???                    valid doesn't mean "good," eh?!?!
