I can create a note on my PC and it will sync with my iphone and ipad.  I can create a note on my ipad and it will sync the new note only with my iphone, but not to my PC.  I have reinstalled Logos to my iphone and ipad to make sure I have the latest versions...notes created on my ipad will not sync to my PC.

Hi Homer - and welcome to the forums

Sorry to hear you are having problems.

Can you provide a few more details?

    • Which version of Logos software are you using on your PC?
    • What indicates that notes aren't being synced to the PC? Is it that the content don't appear in notes documents, you don't see icons in resources where you would expect them, etc?
    • If you create a note on your iPhone does it sync to the PC?
    • Are you creating private or community notes?

    Graham

  • 1. I am using Logos Bible Software 4.6c SR-6 (4.63.0.0400) on my PC/Laptop.  I uninstalled and reinstalled latest Logos app on my Iphone and Ipad.

    2. When I create a note or highlight on my Ipad, the content does NOT appear in notes document and I don't see the icons or highlights in the resource where I would expect to see it on my PC/Laptop.  The note DOES sync and appear on my phone as I would expect.

    3. When I create a note or highlight on my Iphone, the content does NOT appear in my notes document and I don't see the icons or highlights in the resource where I would expect to see it on my PC/laptop.  The note DOES sync and appear on my Ipad as I would expect.

    4. When I create a note or highlight on my PC/Laptop, the content DOES appear in my notes document and I DO see the icons or highlights in the resource where I would expect to see it on my Ipad and my Iphone.

    5.  I am creating a private note in The Holman Christian Standard Bible resource.

Is there a reason you haven't updated to the newest (L5) engine? As long as your computer specs are appropriate, you are strongly encouraged to update. You can do so for free using the link in my signature line. Are you still using XP?

When I create a note or highlight on my Ipad, the content does NOT appear in notes document and I don't see the icons or highlights in the resource where I would expect to see it on my PC/Laptop.

Whatever the underlying problem, it doesn't appear to be a mobile app issue, but rather a desktop issue.

    Screen shots would be informative:

    1. What note document are you using for your highlights?
    2. What note document are you using for your notes?
    3. Do you have the corresponding note document visual filters turned on in the HCSB?
    4. Can we see those note documents in L4?

  • Just finished updating to 5.  Same problem.  I don't know about all those other things.

I don't know about all those other things.

what do you mean? If you don't know which note documents you are storing your notes in, how do you know they arent syncing? Notes can sync, and the visual indicators can be turned off so that you don't see them within the resource.

    1. On your iPad, navigate to your homepage. On the left side are icons, one of which will take you to "documents." By default, highlights are stored in documents named after the pallet the highlighter used is found in. Other kinds of notes might be stored in those documents, or you might have created some of your own. You need to determine which note files you have used.
    2. In L5, there is a place to look for documents, also named such. See if the notes are in those documents.
    3. in each resource within L4/L5, there is a button to turn on/off the visual indicators for each note document. The button looks like three intersecting circles.

Since we can't sit down with you, screen shots are often helpful. If you are on Mac, let me know and I can give you instructions. If you are on PC, Google "jing" and download it.

  • This is a picture of a practice document that I created in my PC/laptop.  Notes created on my phone and my ipad show up in the document and the resource on my ipad and my phone.  But, only notes created by my laptop "Exodus 20:7" show up in the "Practice notes" document on my PC or in the resource.  I also "checked" the visual in the resource.

Interesting. Logos may need to look at log files for the mobile app and/or L5... Hopefully a Logos employee will chime in on Monday. In the mean time:

    1. Do you have large amounts of notes/highlights (not just in one resource, but cumulative over your entire library)?
    2. Do you see the sync wheel spinning continuously on mobile?
    3. How much space is your Bible app taking up on your iPad? Have you downloaded any resources? How many?
    4. When you visit https://documents.logos.com, Click on the note document in question. Are the notes there?

    Hi Homer

Thanks for the screenshots - very useful

I have just tried that here and see the same thing.

Notes created on iPad sync between the apps on the iPad but don't sync with my PC

Notes created on the PC do sync with the iPad

Alabama - if you see this, can you check on your end as well?

    Graham

EDIT: Alabama - sorry I was looking into this as you were typing your reply.

For me - notes entered on the iPad do appear in documents.logos.com

Notes created on iPad sync between the apps on the iPad but don't sync with my PC

Are these "note notes" or "highlight notes" or both? I don't have access to my iPad at the moment, but all of my highlights from yesterday are showing up everywhere as expected. I am on beta for both mobile and desktop, so I might not be a good test subject.

  • Some are notes, some are highlights, neither show up on my laptop if they are created on my ipad or phone.

mine are "notes notes" by both selection and reference.

Like you I am running beta on both platforms but the fact that the notes appear in documents.logos.com suggest that it is a desktop sync issue as opposed to an iOS problem.

I would agree with that guess. You might have some luck posting this on the desktop forums.

And notes I create on my ipad are now turning up on my desktop!

Homer - can you check if you still have the problem at your end?

    Graham

  • Just checked, mine are not showing up on my laptop.  But, they are showing up on my Iphone and Ipad.

Just checked, mine are not showing up on my laptop.  But, they are showing up on my Iphone and Ipad.

To try and pin this down I have just

    1. closed down Logos on my desktop
    2. created a note (by selection but I doubt if that is relevant) in a new notes document on my ipad
    3. I then went to documents.logos.com and found that the notes document (with the created note) had appeared there as expected
    4. opened Logos on my desktop and checked if the notes document was there - which it was with the note correctly entered
    5. opened the resource against which I entered the note and checked that it was there - which it was

Can you reproduce the above steps and let us know where it breaks? I.e. do you get the new notes document in documents.logos.com and does it appear on the desktop?

Can you double-check and confirm that you are using the same logon credentials for Logos on the desktop as per documents.logos.com as per the iPad?

    Thanks, Graham
