NOW AVAILABLE: Lutheran Base Packages
Now available for purchase and immediate download—a new track of Logos 5 Base Packages, designed specifically for our Lutheran users!
You can see the whole lineup HERE (or simply visit: logos.com/lutheranbp).
Here are links to the individual product pages, which list the resources included in each one (brand new comparison charts are on the way soon):
The price points are same as the same-named Base Packages in our standard Logos track. For the next two months, these will be available at 15% OFF by using coupon code LUTHERANBP at checkout. Dynamic pricing also applies, for anyone who already owns some of the resources included in a particular base package. If you are on Academic pricing, the greater discount between Academic vs. Dynamic Pricing + Coupon Code will be honored. Please call us if you have any questions or issues.
There are a few resources that are still in production (marked with an * on the product page), which will download automatically as soon as they are complete.
If you currently have some of the unreleased products on pre-order or have bid on them using Community Pricing, check to see if upgrading to one of these Base Packages would give you either a better overall deal, or if you can snag additional resources for a minimal upgrade cost.

Is this a fixed date? For all the new packages? I was told by sales earlier that there was not set expiration date and they were playing it by ear. I'm still deciding looking at these packages and haven't made a decision yet (both Anglican Platinum and Luther Gold have resources I'd like) but I would certainly like to postpone the purchase-if I could make a couple payments on my payment plan it would be much easier adding another package. I would feel much better knowing the expiration date of those 15% offs.

Yes, each one will be promoted for two months. We'll have last-chance messaging a week or two before they expire.

I may give a more detailed review later, but the things that seem to be missing from a quick look are:
1) Information on WHICH edition/translation of the Book of Concord is included... In general, Logos marketing likes to give titles and not authors, which is quite confusing.
2) While the standard Bible translation for ELCA (NRSV) and LCMS (ESV) are included, that for WELS (NIV) is not. Can the base package at least include the RI's for this?
3) Luther's Works.... Shocked that it is not in Gold.

Ken,
Of course, most of this information will be spelled out in our forthcoming, new, shiny comparison charts. But for now, I can answer any questions you or others might have:
Regarding the Book of Concord specifically, we have included both the 1959 and 2000 editions from Fortress Press.
On the NIV, there are a number of international and otherwise restrictions. It is also not included in other Base Packages, as a result. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this causes, but it is available for download ($9.99) here.
On your last point, I can only say that we worked for months—and did everything within the realm of possibility—to get every Lutheran product in these base packages. Things can, and do change, and if there's ever ability to add more Lutheran content (or grow this Base Package track), we will immediately act upon it.

Thank you for the quick response. And your answers were more or less what I expected. I suppose that I should look around your web site for the details, but I know I got my NIV RI's from the L4 minimal crossgrade, but the translation separately, like your link. Could not these RI's be included in at least some Lutheran Base packages, even in the translation could not?

I'll have to look into that for future revisions/additions. I'm always open to workarounds to help our customers out.

So it is.

I would have expected it to be in Starter, or at least Bronze. Like I said in the other thread, I don't blame Gabe, but I'm shocked Concordia of all publishers didn't play along. Never expected that. I could understand a new publisher being hesitant, but Concordia has worked with Logos for so long. They ought to be delighted over the idea of Lutheran base packages.

We in the LCMS sometimes have difficulty playing with others, for multiple historical reasons... It would go into a terrible blame game to talk about why, but Timothy Lull said that some of that was reason that the "Basic Theological Writings" includes no exegetical works, and I suspect that could be behind CPH's non-participation... Of course I have no real knowledge of the actual business dealings between CPH and Logos.
See http://www.cph.org/p-6903-the-essential-lutheran-library-standard-package.aspx? for what Concordia is marketing as a starter reading library (in print)... The current bible with study notes, the current explanation of the Small Catechism, a "readers edition" of the book of Concord, the current hymnal, and a few prayer books, a classic of LCMS identity (Walther's Law and Gospel), and some more modern works about our teaching. Something like this, expanded into the Logos toolset, and including similar items from outside the LCMS would be a starter package that I would love to see. Of course, this could get into icky control and rights issues...

Thank you for the new Lutheran Base Packages! I was just going to suggest that when I saw the Reformed and Anglican ones. Though, I'm also longing for the CPH resources, but I understand it's not up to Logos that they aren't included.
I counted that I have resources worht of $114 in Prepub that are included in the Lutheran Bronze and up, and if I add also those resources that I have in the Community Pricing bids it makes total of $230 (that is more than my personal upgrade price to the Lutheran Bronze). Should I cancel those Prepubs and CPs when I upgrade to a Lutheran PB or does the system make it automatically?

If you want to upgrade and save, cancel your existing pre-orders and bids and then make the purchase. Dynamic pricing only applies to shipped/live items, so your dynamic upgrade price for a Lutheran BP will stay the same either way.
We'll be reaching out to people in your situation over the next few weeks to give them a chance to do the same before those other pre-pub and CP items ship individually.

Gabe, can anything be done for people who have preordered some/all of these and purchased a base package? That might be a mess of refunds for customer service once the prepubs are billed and no books download?

I talked to several people at Logos who said that would not happen. If you have a preorder reserved and then buy a package containing that resource, then when the preorder is processed it will not charge you. I talked to someone in CS who told me that and then put me through to someone in Products who confirmed it. Is that not true?

That's how it's worked before for me ... I was not charged a second time.

Mark, don't we get charged twice if we bought a package that contains a unreleased pre-pub in one package.. and the second package also contain the same unreleased pre-pub?
I don't think they system knows not to charge twice for the pre-pub resources in 2 different packages..
I'm not sure if I can explain myself clearly..

You did explain yourself clearly, but I don't think your supposition is correct (though I can't be 100% sure). The reason I think that we don't get charged twice for the same pre-pub is because:
- Most of the pre-pubs in these packages are for resources that are ready, even though the prepub hasn't shipped.
- Even if they weren't, the pricing system cares only about licences, not shipped copies. So long as the purchase unlocks the licence (which it does), then should be taken into consideration.
So, for me, the unavailable pre-pubs in Lutheran Gold are greyed out, showing my purchase is being taken into consideration:

say I have purchase the SDA Silver package that's still on pre-pub that contains pre-pubs, THEN I buy Anglican Diamond that has the same pre-pubs from SDA Silver's pre-pubs..., THEN I purchase Lutheran Gold that has the same pre-pubs from SDA Silver & Anglican Diamond ..
I'm worried the system will charge me 3 times and my dynamic won't even work at all...

Cancel SDA Silver prepub. Then buy each of the live packages in separate transactions. Your dynamic pricing will adjust accordingly for un-purchased packages. Finally put the SDA silver pre-pub on pre-pub last. This should ensure you pay the lowest price.
I am working with my rep to add a couple of these packages to my payment plan and he said he will process each separately to my payment plan so I am not charged twice for anything.

This.
If you order a pre-pub, it's not going to impact the pricing of anything else (not least because you haven't paid for it). But if you order each product separately, and order the pre-pub last, you'll be OK. Remember that the SDA base package is the only prepub that even offers dynamic pricing.

I don't think the system read the pre-pubs dynamically well enough...
I'm not sure about this, but, Anglican Diamond contains some pre-pubs that are also in Lutheran Gold.. and the system doesn't read it well. Why? Because when I purchased Anglican Diamond for $1500, the price of Lutheran Gold only went down $20ish .. (I don't believe it is correct, but I might be wrong)
What's worse, I think it happened with Reformed Platinum too.. (its like a bad chain-effect)
