Motion Slides causing problems

I develop my Proclaim slideshow on my brand new mac and then sync it with our church computer before our service on Sunday. The past 3 or 4 weeks Proclaim has crashed and I think it was when we began introducing some new motion slides. Now, it was my understanding that Proclaim could handle these slides so it's a little bit irritating when we are about to start a service and I have to reboot the hard drive to unfreeze the program. We've even gone half a service without song slides and people just had to listen to the worship leader.

So, here's my suggestion. I like having the ability to collaborate between other team members who have Proclaim on their computers and then go live on the church computer but I'd really like to be able to run the program from the hard drive rather than over the internet. I'm assuming a slower internet connection is what is causing these videos or motion slides to freeze the program and I'd like to get around that by downloading the slideshow and storing it locally so there are no problems with internet connectivity. I have no interest in people being able to follow along on their cell phones or giving their offerings over the internet, I just want a seamless show with no glitches. It seems like powerpoint would actually be a better option if it's going to keep freezing on us and causing technical difficulties just minutes before we are ready to go live.

Hi Nathan.

As I understand it this is how Proclaim works now. Once the 'Service' has downloaded to the Church computer it is run from the hard drive. Are you actually trying to start the service live without waiting for all items to be synced (little green arrows spinning on the top right of the screen)?

I guess that this might be a problem if the presentation gets ahead of the syncing sequence. The way to avoid this is to sync the church computer earlier.

I'd like to get around that by downloading the slideshow and storing it locally so there are no problems with internet connectivity.

I do this every week. I prepare the service on my desktop. About and hour before the service I sync it onto my laptop and cart the laptop to my internet challenged sanctuary. The whole presentation then runs from the hard drive of the lap top.

The adage 'Fail to prepare; prepare to fail' may find a new life with Proclaim.

Thanks for the help, but I'm preparing the slideshow well in advance and waiting until the show is completely synced. The red dot turns green and everything looks ready to go. The second I try to go live with a motion slide, however, the whole thing freezes and I have to reboot the hard drive. It's not a failure to prepare, it's a program issue that doesn't seem to allow motion slides or sometimes even short videos.

We have cleared up a couple of red herrings in your original post.

As you have no interest in the signals or remote operations of Proclaim at present can I suggest that you do two things.

1. Once you are confident that all of the presentation has been uploaded to the Logos servers (making sure that all the extra bits about uploading at the bottom of the screen have disappeared) and that it has also been completely downloaded onto the church computer – disconnect from the internet.

2. Once you are disconnected you might get a warning about it in a floating panel – simply dismiss the warning and try running the presentation.
