Package Frenzy

Logos traditionally has made revenue boosting package sales when a new version of Logos shipped, and they boosted package value at those times in order to achieve customer upgrade revenue. Without a new release of Logos imminent, Logos has upped the ante with packages in all shapes and sizes lately (the latest being the "Chaplain Package"). Will Logos have anything left to offer when a new version of Logos rolls around? Or, will any of us be able to justify package upgrades when our libraries have been so built out in between version releases? What will happen to Logos' revenue then?

Don't get me wrong. I bought Reformed Platinum and then Reformed Diamond in recent months, and I am happy to say I got additional value for my money.

But, will there be anything left for Logos to offer?

There are always plenty left in the tank. Some of the books in one package may well make it into other packages. I did not get a Reformed Package, so when Platinum ships with L6, I may get some of what you got, and some of what shipped in Sda Silver, you may end up getting.

If you haven't seen it already, you might search for "Unobtanium package"...actually, I went ahead and did it for you. [:)]

None (or very little) of this stuff is in any other base package at this point. Plus they are cranking out new stuff by the trainload.

Maybe they're hoping to rake in enough bucks now through people buying various packages that they can afford to offer us all Logos 6 for FREE without having to upgrade to any higher base package at the time. [:)]  Or maybe there will just be a new minimal crossgrade that will give us all the new Logos 6 databases. Maybe they've got some exciting new database projects up their sleeves.

Hopefully one of those will be true (esp. the free one...hehehe).  I do like the variety they're putting out, though.  Now I have resources for various denominations; though I wish some BP's included something more other than the usual commentaries that most, if not all base packages have.

If there were an Anabaptist/Mennonite/Brethren BP, they could include the Believers Church Bible Commentary set (published by Herald Press) in that. There probably aren't enough Anabaptist/Mennonite resources or potential customers to justify a BP, though.

They might, but then again they didn't include Lenski in the Lutheran BP so maybe it's just wishful thinking.

They've only just churned out Lutheran Gold...they have plenty of room left in Platinum and Diamond yet. They also need to include Seiss in the next Lutheran package. We need more bids at the $32 level, folks!

I think there is no end to the packages Logos can offer.

He specifically mentioned the Lutheran packages, and those are the Standard ones. It obviously isn't that they have a problem including them, but like I said, Lutheran only goes up to Gold, and the ones shown start at Platinum. I suspect that Lutheran Platinum will contain Lenski--time will tell.

There's still plenty of room for expanded Verbum-related offerings.

Worry not! While some programmer at Logos might be mapping out L6, there are still regular updates being made to L5.  We may yet be far away from that. Until then, remember that new customers keep rolling in as well.
