WARNING: Logos May forget to replace (no longer update) Vyrso books!

Edit:
Everyone should be aware that Logos may no longer update Vyrso books when they are offered in Logos format. [I discovered 8 books that were not updated] They also [gave] no credit for Vyrso purchases. [These were] 8 Piper books [found in] the 39 vol. Piper Collection.
I am going to avoid purchasing Vyrso books in the future because of this. I am happy to take the free stuff however!

So you mean they will still upgrade the books with tagging and all, but they just won't upgrade our Vyrso books for free to the Logos version of the same book?

I noticed this past week in 2 collections that contained books I originally bought in Vyros and were updated in Logos format (I have 2 copies), the Vyros conversions did not qualify for dynamic pricing. One was a 10 book set that I had 5 books but 3 were Vyros updates in Logos format so only credit for the other 2 were given. I passed on both collections (would have bought otherwise!)

Is this true? I remember Logos policy differently.

This seems rather foolish on Logos part... I can see them loosing lots of sales as some have pointed out they have skipped what they would otherwise have purchased... one hopes Logos does something about this soon.

Did they tell you that?
Vyrso books have to be converted to Logos books manually when their counterpart arrives. It's never been automatic in the past--we've had to remind Logos to do it from time to time.

Yeah, considering that I'm pretty sure someone from Logos (was it Bob?) said that Vyrso books would be updated to Logos for free if they became available, I'm going to wait for an official announcement before...drawing a conclusion.

No but I asked for a report on the 39 vol. Piper set and the 8 Vyrso books I own were all marked as False under "Owned". In addition, I looked up each in my library and all were marked "ebook" not "Logos edition". So clearly they were not being updated to Logos edition standard.

Well, did you ask them to upgrade you to the Logos edition? If not, you should, because you might be assuming too much and as a result posting false information that is misleading others to believe something that has not been officially announced by Logos. Just saying [;)]

I updated my original post.
In a past conversation with my sales rep I did know that changes are being made to Dynamic pricing. He mentioned no credit for "free" books in the future.
Seeing that others are having this problem, something is in the wind.

Books currently being (and sometimes recently) given away for free are usually valued at 0$ in dynamic pricing. Nothing really new there - and can you blame them? Once the price returns to normal, you receive the appropriately scaled discount.

This is a reasonable policy. I think my rep's point was these were changes (plural) coming and one of those would be free book would never be counted for credit, not just for a short period of time.

That has been the policy for a while now. We will not get credit for the free book-of-the-month, the Sproul freebies, or the Vyrso freebies.

I will be calling tomorrow, but everyone who purchases a Vyrso book, needs to be careful, in the best case scenario Logos simply failed to update, but to miss this many books indicates a high likelihood they are making similar mistakes with other people's accounts.

are you referring to qualifying on the website or with a sales person? The Vyrso/Logos websites are not fully integrated as far as I can tell.

I suspect that the report it run off Logos/Verbum data omitting Vyrso unless you specifically ask. However, there are two separate issues:
- Will vyrso books be automatically updated to the Logos format?
- Will vyrso books be included in dynamic pricing - note some publishers are already excluded?

Apologies for the confusion caused by this thread.
I was told by a Logos Sales Representative that changes are in the works with Dynamic Pricing that will affect the types of resources being credited. When I noticed that Vyrso purchases I had been made were not being credited in a Dynamic Pricing quote I assumed that it was because some of the changes were being implemented. This may or may not be a correct assumption on my part.
The one thing of value we can take from all this is we need as customers to realize that as long as a book remains of the Vyrso site it has not been converted (it appears Logos removes it from Vyrso when they do this). Second, if it has not been converted then you will not automatically be receiving Dynamic Pricing credit for that recourse. If a Sales Rep can manually credit that book to you I do not know.

I have the exact same resources, and when I e-mailed Logos CS, here is what they replied:
The difference in the book files based on your point of purchase only comes into play when you use a Vyrso book on the full software. Vyrso books are ebooks that lack the normal Logos book tagging as ebooks are typically meant for reading and not the intensive research and studying that Logos provides.
We do apologize that there is no conversion for Logos book files if the books you purchased were from Vyrso.com.0 -

I don't know what the context of the email that you wrote to them, but what they wrote back doesn't make any sense at all. Either they didn't understand what you were asking, or they were very poor at trying to explain whatever it was they were trying to explain!
I do know that there have been some occasions where Logos carried two editions of a book... but it is generally the policy that Logos will only carry ONE edition (either Logos or Vyrso). When it is brought to the attention of management that there are two editions being sold, they normally pull the Vyrso edition ASAP. It is possible that this might be the case with some of these resources: They were in Logos to begin with, Vyrso started selling it, and then it was pulled from Vyrso. Under those circumstances I don't think that you would be entitled to a Logos edition.
This does speak to the point that there needs to be a much tighter integration between the various stores. In other words, when you search for a book, it should appear irrespective of which "store" where it might be sold.

I emailed CS and got a more positive response! However I still only have Vyrso editions of the books...
"Thank you for contacting Logos Support and for bringing this issue to our attention. You are correct- we try to catch all the titles that had previously been sold on www.vyrso.com and update the customer’s account with the Logos version of that book.
Please double check in your library- you should probably have 2 books by the same titles you provided.
If this is not the case let me know and we can see about getting them unlocked correctly."

Guessing: All these are not (yet?) available as individual resources but only as part of the Piper-Collection, which might be the reason for Logos not to unlock the titles right now.

Hey Keith! It looks like all three titles were unlocked on June 13. You should have two sets of each resource (Vyrso edition and Logos edition).

I think there's been a good resolution. It is good that Logos is committed to their stated policy.
Personally, I feel that the title of this thread is attention-grabbing but misleading and a bit unfair to Logos. If only it were changed.

I'll look into this and will hopefully have an answer for you by the end of the week. Vyrso unlocks are a little tricky. We have just recently started recycling a Vyrso ID so that customers don't have duplicate resources. So sometimes, you'll receive a new resource (so two total), and other times, your Vyrso resource will be updated. We strive to give customers their unlock as soon as we catch/create a duplicate resource on the Logos and Vyrso storefronts. Please continue to let us know anytime an unlock was overlooked. [:)]

Jani,
I have the three volumes of Theology in Community series that are available in Vryso (The Deity of Christ, Suffering and the Goodness of God, The Glory of God). They can be seen here: https://vyrso.com/products/search?q=christopher+morgan+robert+peterson
However they have been available in Logos format for some time now in this collection: https://www.logos.com/product/37738/theology-in-community-series
Can I get the Logos versions unlocked? Or is there a problem since they aren't available outside of the collection? If so, can we get the collection broken up?MacBook Pro (2019), ThinkPad E540

Judging from another recent thread, it seems fairly certain that the first one was missed. The other three are mere suspicions.
