Academic Discount

I have been priveliged to enjoy academic discount at one of the universities that applies for a 50 percent base package discount.

Next year I will persue further studies but at an other university. That will reduce my base package discount, but will the discount for the other resources also change? Or do they have just one academic price?

I would contact the academic sales team (contact details at https://www.logos.com/contact) and explain the situation to them and get their guidance.

I would expect you would need to re-register for academic discount - and I think it will depend on the second university being registered with Logos and the studies you will be doing.

Assuming that the university is registered with Logos to provide the academic discount nothing should change with the discount you are currently getting on additional resources. But, to be safe I would contact the academic sales team as Graham advised as well.

The thing is that my current university is registered with Logos.The next isn't.

For universities that are registered Logos offers a 50 percent discount on their packages. For people studying theology (or something related) at universities that are not registered Logos offers a 30 percent discount. The question is if the discount on other products also declines for students at non-registered universities.

for what its worth, my academic discount is all over the place in terms of % discount. Somethings its quite quite low, and on others its significant. Most things though, its about the same as the "normal" sale prices.

The academic discount, unlike marriage, doesn't have an adulterous wife clause. To escape you must die. Very similar to American IRS taxes.

I have actually wondered the same thing in the past but never thought much of it since I have never claimed an academic discount. I would suspect that it would be possible if the person you are leaving it to in your will qualifies but, maybe it applies to anyone. I'm curious to know this too.

I dont think there will be a problem. The main reason why Logos does not transfer academic discounted books because users could resell them at higher price. As long as you dont resell them, you should be fine, and someone could be blessed. Otherwise, you can leave at your will your username and password [;)]

As I understand it, the non-transferability of academic licenses is to prevent 'I'll buy it on the academic discount today and sell it to you next week for 10% more and you pay the $20 transfer fee, saving thousands!' scenario. It's not to stop you from bequeathing your library in your will.

For what it's worth, we are always on the side of our customers. It's the only smart way to grow a business. Every policy we have that feels restrictive is some legally or financially necessary protection against specific (and sometimes imagined) abuses that would make our business model untenable. If it's reasonable, doesn't kill our business, and is pro-customer, we're going to be okay with it.

I only hope all of our heirs value this investment in Bible study resources as much as we do! :-)

I view Bob's answer with some amusement. My Dad is past 90. I don't think he used his PC and Bible software after maybe 80 at best. Among his children and thense grandchildren are various preachers/missionaries. All wait for him to die. (Just joking). Who's kidding who? Logos apologists forget they're likely die pretty late these days. In Japan, I'd assume it's even worse. By the time the Logos owner dies, his kids are well into retirement.

Avoid the academic discount if you can.
