D.A. Carson Sermon Archive

Any reason why this has not been bought by everyone yet? I must say that this is a very exciting product to me and I am wondering why it is not already in production. Am I missing something?

Samples?
Also, though I'm theologically Reformed, I'm not familiar with Carson as a preacher.

I loved his sermon at the 2011 gospel coalition conference entitled Getting Excited About Melchizedek:

It's slightly more than double per sermon than the sermon starter pack (16¢ vs 7¢). Carson has a brilliant mind and he's a great teacher.

I also cannot see why this hasn't taken off like a rocket....Carson wins March madness often, yet this seems to be foundering????????

Some are free in audio form and some have transcripts but having all of them in audio and in transcript form and fully searchable with Logos abilities, etc., is worth this cost. At least, I guess I think so and a few others but wondering why everyone else doesn't see this in the same light.

I think it might be an expensive production cost, and that's why we don't see a big move in the chart

I'm in for this. Have routinely found sermons delivered by scholars to have special and diverse insight.

He was a pastor for a few years before he was a scholar, which I believe adds to the impact of his preaching. He doesn't simply approach it as a lecture but has a shepherd's heart behind his preaching.
He was also heavily influenced by his father, who was a simple pastor in Canada--but he was a genuine man of God who did a wonderful job discipling his son.

Just thought I would graciously make a bump for this. [H]

Carson is probably the most able pastor-theologian in the world, in my opinion. He leaves none of his scholarship behind when he preaches, but he still preaches (not lectures). Some of the most impactful sermons I've ever been fortunate enough to listen to have been preached by Carson, and along with Alistair Begg (who has a quite different style), he's probably the person I put most effort into getting to hear. (I've already been to one conference this year with Carson as the main preacher, and I'm going to another in August.)

Agreed.
Unfortunately, that scholarship doesn't fly well in the anti-intellectual milieu of the sound-bite, emotionally driven, totally subjective, feel good, mile-wide-inch-deep, postmodern, best-life-now, vanilla, ooey-gooey, sloppy agape, anthropocentic bastardization that passes itself off as Christianity today. [My medication is working and I am feelin' my oats ... did I forget anything? [;)]]
Also agree re: Begg.
Instead of Artificial Intelligence, I prefer to continue to rely on Divine Intelligence instructing my Natural Dullness (Ps 32:8, John 16:13a)

Well that is quite the mouthful. [:S]

which adjective in the above does not belong? ... I'll take my own advice re: Christian Discourse and not answer. [:#] [;)][:D]

That promotional blurb convinced me to pre-order.
Thanks,

I would like to bump this to remind those of you who have not ordered this to consider it. As Mark says his sermons always make an impact, you would benefit from this....Now order! [8o|] (I'm just kidding....sort of)

This would be one of the top sermon collections to have access to.
Yes, place the order!

Ahem.... Time for the monthly reminder how this scholarly series of sermons would be one of the best resources to own. In my humble opinion. [H]

As a foretaste of the richness of this offering I reference this website which houses a collection of D. A. Carson's sermons to help get those on the fence to commit to this bargain collection of sermons.
Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.

Thank you for the link, Beloved.
And I agree, it would be fantastic to get this into production.

Time to bump this. Still amazing to me that this was not developed yesterday!

I am listening to D.A. Carson very often. Right now I do his Revelation series of teaching. Some of his sermons I have listened 3 - 4 times. There are many available for free - so I thing that is the reason the price is felt to be a little bit too high.

I agree, plus, I want the text of his sermons.

This perception may well be one reason why this is taking so long to cross the line and I wonder if Logos could do more to raise the profile of this resource and clarify the actual value (particularly given that Carson has proved so popular in March Madness, etc.).
In my opinion, the contents of this resource prove it to be of excellent value.
Placing to one side the richness of the content of the sermons themselves, this collection is presently priced at less than a dollar per sermon and, unusually, includes audio and video content thus distinguishing it from some other recent sermon collection additions (e.g. the Timothy Keller archive, which is also excellent).
It may be that (another?) push via social media and the Logos blog might give this collection some additional momentum.

I've just recently enjoyed listening to this series also. It really is top-notch stuff (in my opinion, of course!).

[Y] Just noticed (MM dominant victory repeat effect, perhaps) this PP is 'almost there'! For me, 16 cents per sermon (incl. audio + some video) from a scholar who Has a pastoral heart, is good stewardship.
