Controlling an MP3 file by iPad?

Hi - can't quite get my head around this, and it isn't working well. If I add an MP3 file as a sound file in an announcement, I can get it to start ok, but getting it to stop, or stop and restart causes odd things - like the song just continuing in the next slide where it left off.

Is there a better way to add an MP3 song so that you can actually control it through the iPad remote app?

I'm doing a funeral at 4 today and am frustrated. The MP3 is a split track for a singer in the service. I'm ok if I can start it and just have it go until it's done, but if I need to pause or restart it, I'm going to be in trouble.

Is there a better way of using an audio MP3 file than just adding it to a content file via the Background Audio settings?

Replying to my own post... the memorial service on Friday went perfectly. No issues at all. The audio from the MP3 file, which was added to a content slide, was able to play through completely, and the three other video files (I used only the audio) played as expected.

So - I'm still wondering, have others found a good way to play an MP3 file in a way that allows you to control/start/stop/go back in the file?

This is not supported in Proclaim. You can pause the mp3 via the main window of Proclaim, but there is no way to control the song in the way that you are describing; The Remote app does not support this either. However I am glad to hear that the service went well.

That seems odd - that we have pretty decent control over video files/slides, but not simpler audio files. The behavior is troubling as well - if I went to another placeholder slide to set up the next event (video), sometimes the audio from the previous slide would continue playing. The audio didn't seem limited to the slide it was put on. It was - unexpected...

Can you think of a way this could be made to work? In this instance, it was a split track backing vocal track for a singer. I have a feeling that I will end up doing more of this kind of thing.

It worked well Saturday, but I was able to let the song play out completely and didn't actually use the placemarker slides (for fear of the background music starting up again). The presentation is called 2014-8-23 Delfina Barnett Memorial on our Proclaim files. Are you able to look at it to see what the issue was? From Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawthorne, CA.
