Will not play video

We have been using Proclaim somewhat successfully during the 30 day trial period. We are approaching the end of the trial, and would like to begin paying for the monthly subscription (as we are pretty impressed with how great it looks compared with what we were doing- Google Slides). However, we have come to a problem for which have not been able to find a solution.

Originally, we were using a laptop to extend the projector. It was working well, except our outdated laptop could not handle Proclaim and would glitch. But as long as we didn't try to edit and add stuff on the fly, we could at least present pretty decently.

We got a more powerful desktop running Windows 7 but discovered it only had one VGA port which would only let us mirror (using a splitter), so we added a video card that has VGA, DVI & HDMI. We are using the new VGA port for the monitor & the DVI (with a VGA adapter) to go to the projector. When we extend, everything seems to be working well except it will not do video now. When we use video media for songs (the ones included in Proclaim) we can go from slide to slide, but elements that are supposed to be moving are still. Today, a video that I tested at home various times, would just not play.

I'm hoping there is a solution that I can handle (I'm no expert) since we really do want to continue with Proclaim. It has made a big difference in how we do media.

I'd appreciate any help the Proclaim team can offer. If anyone else has dealt with something like this, I'd also love to hear from you.

We have also been experiencing problems with videos. We have been running Proclaim for about 2 years from a (~4-5 yr old, not sure of exact specs) Windows 7 Laptop, and while the video performance has never been perfect ('rough' fades, some hesitation and occasional lock-ups), we have recently (last 3 weeks) been unable to play (or preview) video files. At first converting the M4V file to WMV seemed to fix the problem (in one case) but the next file I tried to play failed. More perplexing is the fact that sometimes it would play the first 2-3 seconds and then go blank and not play at all on subsequent attempts.

I have been wanting to move from a loptop to a more powerful tower pc with dedicated display cards, thinking this would address my video performance concerns. Just as Jesse reported - the videos play fine at home but not at chuch (when it counts - the Sunday-morning stress levels have been higher than I'd like). If the right hardware will fix the problem than I will continue to pursue that, but as Jesse is also reporting similar problems on a brand new system, I have reservations about spending money right now if it is actually a software (settings/driver/codec/etc.) problem. I would also like to hear if others have had video problems, and if a newer system/better display card(s) would be the fix.

One thing I would like you two to try is to disable hardware acceleration. If you cannot reproduce any crashes or video freezing when hardware acceleration is disabled, then we can narrow it down to being a video driver issue.

You will be able to do this by downloading the file here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hzopard11g3ktna/DisableHWAcceleration.reg.RENAME

Once this file is downloaded, rename it from 'DisableHWAcceleration.reg.RENAME' to 'DisableHWAcceleration.reg'. After this is done, double click the file and it will create and enable the correct registry key. After doing this, restart your computer and try to reproduce the issues.

Please report back to us if you can or cannot reproduce these issues after following the previous steps. If this fixes video playback, please also include your system specs and video card information. We are trying to gather as much info as we can and this will help lead to a fix.

If you could provide the version of Windows Media Player that you are using, that would be great as well.
