Quick question for you beta users:  Is this feature available for Logos 6 or announced for Logos 6 or neither?

I'm happy with 5 and will not be interested in 6 if this feature won't be available for it in the near future.

    Peace,

It's available and working in Logos 6.

Oh my.  To be clear, Logos 6 beta (if there is such a thing) or just Logos 6?

Just plain Logos 6.  There is no beta as of yet.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

So I'm reading in another thread, that the 5.3 beta was pulled and is no longer available AND that Logos 5 users will be provided free the the Logos 6 engine which will include the "Send to Kindle" feature.

What?  Why would I pay for an upgrade or crossgrade if that is accurate?

    Help.

You would buy an upgrade, if you wanted the resources and features in that upgrade.

You would by a crossgrade, if you wanted the features found in that crossgrade.

If you don't want those, you can wait for the free engine, which will be made available in February.

I would recommend that you take a look at some of the videos, or peruse the Logos6 forum to find out why others are excited about this new version. IMHO, it's one of the most impressive new versions Logos has done to date.

The software is ALWAYS free. When Logos has a new "major" release (i.e. L5, L6), they give those who upgrade access first. Logos continues to update both the software and resources free of cost to the user. Logos doesn't directly benefit financially from this, other than the "goodwill" from its loyal customers. They also innovate with new features which require the purchase of new resources and/or datasets.

The business model that Logos has chosen to adopt is dependent upon users (both new and returning) purchasing base packages and/or crossgrades. There are a lot of bells and whistles. Some of these are ONLY available through Logos... but what sets them apart, in my mind at least, is the real benefit of Logos being a "digital research library." The BEST way to enhance your library is to purchase a base package... and then to purchase a new one when you get the chance. The BEST time to get a new base package is when Logos first releases them. Which is now.

I appreciate the feedback from both of you.  Trying to figure all this out as I currently have the Silver Logos 5 set.  Looks like I can upgrade to Gold for $700-ish and Platinum for $1100.

Now, it also looks like I can update the engine for Logos 6 now.  Would that be correct?

Sorry if I'm off topic.  All I wanted was the "send to Kindle" feature and got sucked into a Logos 6 discussion.  I'm like a bug being drawn to a light.

    David -

The free engine won't be available until February.

There are cheaper ways to update than the ways you listed. Look on the Logos site for "crossgrade" options.

Yes. Being able to read Logos eBooks on my Kindle Paperwhite would be fantastic. Can't happen soon enough.  The inability to send/receive notes/highlights between Logos/Kindle is a non issue for me.

You have other choices as well. You can "upgrade" to ANY level. The "upgrade" in "Logos 6 upgrade" refers to "Logos 6," not to the level (i.e. "silver," "gold," etc.). How much is starter for you? Bronze? Silver?

You shouldn't feel obligated to upgrade... but you should take a look. Also, when you look at new base packages, some have a "new to you" view which really cuts to the quick.

Ah, I see that now.  Wow, the Extended Crossgrade is real doable, but again, to stay on topic, will that Crossgrade have the "send to Kindle" feature?  From what you all are indicating, it sounds like yes.

    Right?

I'm not 100% sure, but my understanding is that this feature is a part of the Logos 6 UI. So if you get Logos 6 (free, crossgrade, upgrade) you should get it.

First of all, I don't think I have ever said this to you, but thanks for all your helpful posts over the years.

I was thinking about upgrading to Starter. I am on Silver now. I know I won't lose any books, but I guess my package would say "starter" if I did.

Starter is $60.78 for me. The cheapest crossgrade is $175.65 (Feature).

What would I be missing by going to Starter?

One thing I am very interested in is Visual Copy. But it is not a deal-breaker for me.

I know I am being a bit of a cheapskate here (would like to upgrade to Silver or even Gold), but I am transitioning from being a pastor of a church to mission work in Guatemala. We are in the fundraising stage at this point and have not left. So that is why I cannot make big purchases.

Right now, Starter is my only option. I am just wondering if it is worth it or what I would miss from doing the Crossgrade.

    Any advice is welcomed!

no such thing. There are no free lunches. There was a HUGE cost to me when switching from L3 - there are still major (to me) features that have not been implemented. If the software was free, free L6 engine would be released much sooner than Feb 15. I just don't believe that Faithlife is NOT using the new version as an upgrade driver.

not true. The price for base packages is almost always discounted 15%. There are a ton of sales through the year to get additional resources or credits or what have you. IF you have no use for the "bonus" resources, etc. the deal Logos 6 is running right now is irrelevant. The BEST time to get a new base package is different for each person.

Oh my gosh, I did it guys!!!!!!!!!  I upgraded to Logos 6 and just used the "Send to Kindle" feature for the first time: "Brothers, We Are Not Professionals" by John Piper.

I may just weep.  It worked.  I can't believe it worked.

    Peace,
