I lost all my downloaded offline books on my iPad!
My 5-week-old iPad seemed to be draining battery very quickly recently (losing 3-4% of the charge per hour while on sleep, with no background apps running), so I brought it to the Apple store to be looked at. The "genius" ran a diagnostic on it and determined that there's noting abnormal with the battery, so he told me to do a restore through iTunes when I get home.
I went home and did the Sync a few times just to make sure it gets everything on the iPad backed up, then I did the Restore. It took a while, and it completely messed up the layout of the app icons on my home screen, but that's easily fixable.
After the restore, I found that every single one of the 52 apps worked correctly, including all ebook readers and other Bible apps -- all content and settings were restored and immediately usable -- with the exception of the Logos app 1.5.1.
ALL MY DOWNLOADED OFFLINE BOOKS WERE GONE!
I was suspicious when after the restore the App content took up 4GB less memory than before. That sounds about like the amount of books I have spent weeks downloading for offline use on my daily train ride to and from work.
My questions are as follows:
1) Has anyone else experienced something similar (or an iPad / iPhone restore that did not remove the Logos offline books)?
2) Is this normal behavior, or is this an anomaly (that is, are the downloaded Logos books expected to survive an iPad restore)?
3) Is there anything I can do now to restore those downloaded books (other than re-downloading), as they may still be sitting on my hard drive somewhere?
4) I saw that a number of apps allow the manually syncing / copying of books or content via the iTunes interface. Can Logos consider allowing that as an optional model (that is, providing a way to download and copy offline books to the iPad via iTunes rather than doing it over the air)?

The app does not backup books to iTunes. You'll need to download them again.

Any plans to change that? All other Bible apps I have on the iPad back up the books through iTunes. Why is Logos different?

I too recently lost all my downloaded books. I did NOT sync with iTunes - so I do not know why it lost the books. I have seen this before - this is the 'umpteenth' time I have had to do this and it gets old. Particularly when I haven't looked at it for a week or two and am somewhere that I want to read only to discover they are not there :-( Sitting in McD's downloading again so I can read at the in-laws house where there is no internet access.
Backup SOMEWHERE would be nice. iTunes would work...

Concur restoring iPad configuration from backup - need to re-download Logos resources for offline use.
Dreaming: wish could drag and drop resource file(s) from Logos library to iPad - wireless download for some resources not work consistently (e.g. 1,000 Bible Images).
Noticed some iPad applications show their files in iTunes.

It would be most appreciated if the downloaded Logos books could be backed up via iTunes. I also had to restore my Apple product (iPod Touch 4G), and I had to reload all of the books I had downloaded . . . quite an effort.
Addressing this would be a huge blessing.

Even if it was simply the list of the books that had been downloaded, with a function that would then permit an automatic re-download of all of the lost resources . . . a full back-up would be ideal, but if there are some barriers that stand in the way of that, the incremental improvement would save the time of having to go through the list manually and check off all desired books.
Also, something in this order would permit one to maintain a consistent set of downloads on an iPod and an iPad.

I've rebuilt my Ipad many of times and all the books I had downloaded to the Ipad reloaded.
On the Desktop Logos, goto: Library, select the book you want downloaded to your ipad, click on "resource Information" button (top right of the open book window), scroll down to "download to" section of the resource information and make sure you have your ipad checked. Therefore, everytime you upgrade or rebuild your ipad, it will autoload the downloadable books. This is also a way of removing any books you don't want downloaded on your ipad. When check to see if the book has been downloaded to your ipad, the "resource information" button will be a solid color identifying the book is downloaded to your ipad. I hope this help. Thank you Logos for that feature. it has save me from many frustration.

In Library, in the search bar, type local: This should list all the books that are actually downloaded on your iPad
