White Line When Transferring Control to Powerpoint

When transferring of control to PowerPoint, the rendered PP slides to not completely fill the output window. There is a white bar at the bottom and black bars on each side. When using PowerPoint by itself these bars do not show and the slides fill the window. Any fix to this?

Can you provide a screenshot of what you're seeing? Sometimes the Windows task bar can disrupt the full size view calculation. Does your task bar auto-hide?

Our windows taskbar is not on AutoHide. I'm sure it can AutoHide. The problem is only showing up on our HD Projectors in the Auditorium. It does not show up on our secondary monitor connected to the computer. Here are a few pics of the projectors.

I'm not able to reproduce your issue, but you might be able to work around it while we investigate further. Are you on Windows 8? If so, right click anywhere on an empty section of the taskbar and click 'Properties'. In the 'Multiple Displays' section of the dialog that comes up, uncheck 'Show Taskbar on All Displays'. If there's any issue with the taskbar interfering with the window measurements, that should hopefully resolve it.

We are on Windows 7. I couldn't find the option for "Show Taskbar on All Displays." I tried to put the taskbar to autohide, but it didn't change anything. I'll have to try some different ideas on Monday. We also did see the white line showing up on all monitors today.

I am investigating this at the moment and I am not able to reproduce the issue. What version of Power Point are you using when this happens? Could you also provide the powerpoint presentation that the issue is happening with?

Okay so I still cannot seem to reproduce this behavior. You say this happens on all monitors; does it happen on the main monitor as well, or only secondary monitors. I just wanted to clarify. Also, what is the screen resolution of your presenting machine? Are there any other settings that are not the default that you can think of (size of items on display, specific toolbar settings, etc.)? I would like to try to emulate your machine as much as possible while investigating this.

This only happens on secondary monitors, not our main computer screen. The screen resolution is 1920x1080. As far as I can tell there aren't any special settings on our computer that would change things drastically. Icons are normal size. Taskbar is locked and off AutoHide.

There is also a noticeable flash of the desktop screen w/windows on all secondary monitors when we transfer control to powerpoint. It is not a seemless transition. If people aren't praying at that moment, it would look like a computer malfunction.

Just found this...apparently there is an option on my taskbar called "Aero Peek" with a tiny button to the right of the date and time. If you click this it will remove everything from the screens secondary screens...possibly could this be causing some of our problems?

This shouldn't be causing issues. I do see the bar at the bottom of the screen momentarily, but it disappears after a second or so. Do you have a newer version of Powerpoint? I am curious if using a newer version would alleviate these issues.

I'm going to try and track down a newer version of Powerpoint. In the meantime, our smaller auditorium is running proclaim as well, but doesn't have the white line. Apparently this is no problem there. It must be a problem with this specific computer setup.

The only difference I could find between the working/non-working setup is this: Working Setup recognizes multiple displays w/extended desktops in the Intel Graphics Control Panel. The Non-Working setup only recongnizes Single display. Not sure if this is a cause to the problem because multiple displays work and project the signals we want.

If you can revert back to PowerPoint 2007, then I would suggest you try. However only if you can revert to 2007 in case PowerPoint 2013 causes a different issue.

We have open cases with the third party software that we use for the 'Transfer Control to Powerpoint' feature. I do not have an ETA of when these issues will be fixed.
